A Quilter's Path

Sunday, October 29, 2017. I'm not a big fan of the rail fence pattern. It's just not my style. But when Bonnie Hunter came up with the added checkerboard units, I decided to make it. I was getting ready to head to Otsego Lake for 10 days of solo time, so I bagged up the pieces for the fireplace quilt and kitted up what I needed to get a good start on the rail fence. Being an OCD-type, I didn't want to waste a thing. So I had 5 piles going: strips 1-1/2" x 6-1/2" for the rails; squares of various size...

A Quilter's Path: September 2013

http://aquilterspath.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html

Sunday, September 29, 2013. Where did September go? The non-profit organization that I work with had a big international event last week and it took over my life. Right after that was over, I ended up completely rearranging my sewing studio. Ack! Sewing Studio 2.0. The reason for rearranging had nothing to do with sewing. We were having trouble getting a good wi-fi signal in parts of the house, so we wanted relocate the router, which in turn required moving the furniture. But BONUS! This - was my origina...

A Quilter's Path: For Greta, From Jenny Doan

http://aquilterspath.blogspot.com/2015/03/for-greta-from-jenny-doan.html

Friday, March 27, 2015. For Greta, From Jenny Doan. My newest granddaughter, Greta, was born last May, but I'd already started working on her quilt. I started with one layer cake of bright colors and yardage in white that I cut into 10" squares. Complete instructions for the Disappearing Pinwheel blocks can be found at the MSQC website, on YouTube, and in Block magazine. Now, just like we did for the Disappearing Nine-Patch, square up the pinwheel blocks and the cut them into thirds in both directions.

A Quilter's Path: Molly's Quilt (Part 1)

http://aquilterspath.blogspot.com/2013/08/mollys-quilt-part-1.html

Sunday, August 18, 2013. Molly's Quilt (Part 1). After a long dry spell, I'm back in the sewing saddle! Back on Long Island from a wonderful couple of weeks in Michigan and ready to hit the sewing machine. After my son's wedding in July, we returned to Michigan to have house guests, family, and another wedding. All those UFOs that I thought. I would work on during my one week home in July came to naught. But now, especially with the unexpectedly cooler weather, I'm ready to get to work! I needed a block ...

A Quilter's Path: April 2013

http://aquilterspath.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html

Friday, April 19, 2013. My sewing is coming along really well these days. One big project is well underway and another smaller one is almost done (next post! In the process I managed to finish two more Barrister's blocks by using the units as leaders and enders. In between, I cranked out a cute apron for my future daughter-in-law's bridal shower. The apron pattern is great - fully adjustable without hardware (buckles etc.), so anyone can wear it. Still, dessert is what it's all about, right? Today was th...

A Quilter's Path: Broken Promises, Broken Legs

http://aquilterspath.blogspot.com/2015/03/broken-promises-broken-legs.html

Friday, March 20, 2015. Broken Promises, Broken Legs. Happy National Quilting Month! It's been more than a year since I updated my blog. This is how life is, I guess. So today, a quick update, then back to quilting. Each to his own. Pink floral on taupe - everywhere! We put our house on the market, and I squeezed quilting in between bi-weekly open houses. Finally finished Molly's wedding quilt. Plus a bonus quilt of appliques (to be shared soon). As work progressed on our new house, I decided that I woul...

A Quilters Pleasure

Friday, May 1, 2015. Well I am slowly getting there in my scribble design :) I used a gorgeous #30 weight thread for some of the design, but I don't have a 100" needle and it just tore up the thread! It's amazing how much a difference a needle makes. So I need to get some more needles. Such a busy week doing all the normal stuff plus a whole lot of extras. The best part was that I rediscovered the best op shop! And it now has a designer section! Two brand new pair of shoes for $20! Tuesday, April 14, 2015.
