Saturday, February 28, 2015. To Print or Not to Print. I have been in the process of revising all my books and getting new and corrected editions available. This has included making certain that the ebook versions were properly prepared and ready for sale at the major vendors, including Amazon. Yes, most of my stuff will now be available for Kindle. I am still leery of trying out print distribution, although the simplest program, which includes Barnes & Noble and Amazon, costs nothing. This assumes that ...

The Lucky Lad: Understanding the Manticore, a poem
http://luckylad.insolentlad.com/2015/07/understanding-manticore-poem.html
Friday, July 24, 2015. Understanding the Manticore, a poem. To describe the Manticore we must. First know that the Romans misspelled. The name and it properly is called. Martichora, man-eater, by the Greeks. And before them, the Persians. Does the misspelling of a mythical. Creature's name change its nature? Does it become a new and different. Beast of the imagination? There is still something of the lion. About it, and something of man,. Not unlike its cousin, Sphinx. It, too, was known to dine.

Wednesday, March 25, 2015. In Common, a poem. We never carried through. On that marriage thing,. Never had to weigh. Of our being against. Each other. What have we now. In common save the fallen. Leaves of another season,. Time passed and not returned? Better to grow apart,. It was not always so. Stephen Brooke ©2015. Very much of a quickie. I could see using that 'grow apart, apart' phrase in a song and just might so do. Gibberish by Stephen Brooke. Tuesday, March 17, 2015. The profit margin compared to...

The Lucky Lad: Worlds Apart, a song lyric
http://luckylad.insolentlad.com/2015/07/worlds-apart-song-lyric.html
Tuesday, July 21, 2015. Worlds Apart, a song lyric. This piece will probably not be worth developing and just sit in my files, but I had to get it out of my system. Four-hundred miles and too many years. Stand between you and me;. Too tall a mountain, too broad a river,. Too far for us to be. Too far for me to ever cross. The fences built by time;. You must live in this world of yours,. I'll abide in mine. Worlds apart, worlds apart,. Where do we end when there's no place to start? You and I, worlds apart.

The Lucky Lad: Coal, a poem
http://luckylad.insolentlad.com/2015/08/coal-poem.html
Monday, August 03, 2015. Coal, a poem. Time may turn coal to a diamond. But also a plum to a prune;. I’m gaining not facets but wrinkles,. And it’s happening too soon. It’s rarely we are at the dusk. The same as we were at noon;. The instrument that once played well. Must go out of tune. Gods of marble will soften,. No matter how well they are hewn,. And time erodes even mountains;. I look in the mirror and see. A poorly drawn cartoon. Of the likeness vanity made;. Time's burst my balloon. Coal, a poem.

Friday, May 29, 2015. Last weekend, I did get over to the Florida Folk Festival, Friday only, for a bit of music and catching up. I do not think I will do that again; next time it will be the whole weekend or not at all. Ideally, with me as a performer, of course. My niece, Mean Mary. James, was there performing and we did hang out some. She won't be back next year; has another European tour planned for that time. I also managed to finish off and upload all the files for my new fantasy-adventure novel, C...

Friday, July 31, 2015. I put together another simple slideshow video trailer for the latest novel, SHAPER. Old surf pics, some music I recorded, and a few blurbs. The pics are, for the most part, very old, many of them of my brother. SHAPER will officially be out Sept 1 but I'm already working on uploading the completed files for the book. Gibberish by Stephen Brooke. Sunday, July 26, 2015. Writing, Editing, Traveling. I'm not even sure why I'm bothering with print distribution. But getting stuff out the...

The Lucky Lad: Like, a poem
http://luckylad.insolentlad.com/2015/07/like-poem.html
Saturday, July 25, 2015. Like, a poem. We were very much in like. With each other and maybe. That is enough. We could. Have settled, I think. That time has passed and now. Friends means only friends,. While I go seeking the sort. Of love that knots. Me up, makes me sick,. Demands more than I have. If only I could once more. Stephen Brooke ©2015. Pretty much of a throwaway - - don't expect it to show up in a book or anything (unless it's a posthumous anthology! Gibberish by Stephen Brooke. Like, a poem.

Friday, June 19, 2015. And that is because the poem is not really suitable for a picture book for little ones. It is too sophisticated, too complex. That is true of much of the poetry I have written aimed at a younger audience. This does not mean that children would not enjoy the work, just that my presentation concept was wrong. Create my illustrations. Twenty-eight drawings in five days. Right now, I am designing and assembling the book. Expect it out sooner rather than later. Perhaps August Fi...Here'...
