Archipelago: 23 Things: Pinterest

Ideas, resources, book reviews, and discussions especially for independent School Librarians. Monday, September 23, 2013. Some people love it, some don't, but here is how I feel about Pinterest. I'm conflicted, a wannabe, a lapsed user. Pinterest was really helpful while I was planning my son's Bar Mitzvah, which was on Cinco de Mayo (2011), I made a planning board for that. I feel a bit out of the loop with Pinterest so I am glad to have a nudge to give it another try. September 26, 2013 at 11:07 AM.

Ideas, resources, book reviews, and discussions especially for independent School Librarians. Thursday, April 11, 2013. A recent Friday night was our 11th annual Upper School Library Sleepover. Originally started by students, I was ready to let this tradition retire with the previous librarian, who retired last year and chaperoned and organized this event for a decade. The students who thought of it as a Brentwood School tradition, however, demanded we do it again, and I am so glad we did!

Killin' time being lazy: I just have to rant
http://lazygal.blogspot.com/2015/06/i-just-have-to-rant.html
Killin' time being lazy. A miscellany of thoughts, newsclips and ephemera. I just have to rant. Years ago, in high school and college, there were teachers/professors we knew were more friendly than they should be, that there were some who had inappropriate relationships with students. True or not, things were different then and we didn't get as upset about the abuse of position and trust and all that as we do now. I'm not defending, just sayin'. I had a friend who was raped. And now there's a teacher who...
Killin' time being lazy: Grumble Millennials Grumble
http://lazygal.blogspot.com/2015/07/grumble-millennials-grumble.html
Killin' time being lazy. A miscellany of thoughts, newsclips and ephemera. Yes, I'm an old fogey and getting older by the minute. The past week just proves it. Sunday, while shopping, I attempted asking a question about a product. The young'un in charge of that area was so involved with her texting that I gave up. Or that when you're sitting at a table with younger colleagues (and by younger, read "young enough to be your children") they make polite conversation or - at the very least - they acknowledge ...
Killin' time being lazy: Reflections
http://lazygal.blogspot.com/2015/04/reflections.html
Killin' time being lazy. A miscellany of thoughts, newsclips and ephemera. Every five years, for the past 35, I've been getting together with my high school classmates (not all 105 of them, but as many as 30 at a time). It's called Reunion. And this weekend is my 35th. Gulp. Overall, I have to say, life is pretty good. Yes, there's the acedia. Well as of right now I'm 3 books behind on my 2015 goal (a couple of good weekends should take care of that). But overall? Plant a Seed...Read a Book: Favorite Poetry Books
http://plantaseedreadabook.blogspot.com/2013/03/favortie-poetry-books.html
Plant a Seed.Read a Book. Monday, March 11, 2013. Technically, It's Not My Fault. Grades 4 and up. Forgive Me, I Meant to Do It. By Gail Carson Levine. Grades 3 and up. Lemonade: and Other Poems Squeezed from a Single Word. Grades 3 and up. Of these three poetry books I feel like this would be the one that's hardest to emulate. To take a word such as spaghetti and then using only the letters in that word make a whole poem is so difficult! But I sure do love what Rasczka did with it:. Battle of the books.

Plant a Seed...Read a Book: Perfect Square
http://plantaseedreadabook.blogspot.com/2013/03/perfect-square.html
Plant a Seed.Read a Book. Thursday, March 14, 2013. Discussion Seed: Ask your students why they think at the end of the book the square isn't happy being just a square, though he was at the beginning of the book. With kindergaretn or PreK this book can be used to review days of the week, colors and shapes. Craft Seed: Have students start with a simple square. Ask them to cut or rip it and then take the pieces and glue them down into something completely new. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
