autumn is always good to me | Archive 34
https://archive34.wordpress.com/2013/09/09/autumn-is-always-good-to-me
Sound of the Archives! September 9, 2013. Autumn is always good to me. I have settled on my first tattoo idea. I’ve decided on the ampersand, which not only has an interesting history. At least to me), but is also meaningful and just intrinsically beautiful to me. It’s one of those visuals that I don’t understand why I like it, but I do — though I suppose most things are like that. For me, “& #8221; signals to not despair, because there is more. I hope that my other future tattoos will be remin...Click t...
I don’t even like the word limbo though | Archive 34
https://archive34.wordpress.com/2014/03/16/989
Sound of the Archives! March 16, 2014. I don’t even like the word limbo though. I’d say we’re in limbo again, but I’m ever so slowly realizing that adulthood is anything but stable and always in limbo. Becoming a responsible adult is the easy part; the hard part is managing constant change and uncertainty. There will never be employment that is a sure thing for life, and I don’t know why I was always working towards that, anyway. Wouldn’t that be dull? You DON’T want a nap! I just didn’t expect this.

Misadventures of an English Teacher: Sh!t My Students Say
http://whatarewesupposedtobedoing.blogspot.com/2014/01/sht-my-students-say.html
Misadventures of an English Teacher. Saturday, January 25, 2014. T My Students Say. During Leadership, we were talking about the activities for the upcoming rally. We always have a competition between grade levels, where we play part of a song, then turn it off, and the class has to finish it. We joked about giving the 6th graders something really silly like "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes.". Then Ruben says, "I always mess up that song. It's the knees and toes part that gets me.". Hyperbole and a Half.

Misadventures of an English Teacher: March 2013
http://whatarewesupposedtobedoing.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Misadventures of an English Teacher. Monday, March 25, 2013. The other day, I started thinking about derby and my place in it, what it means, how it has changed my life, and what a crazy, insane subculture it is. Above all else, it is a sport. Those who don't understand it often ask questions like, "So, you beat people up on skates? It's fake like wrestling, right? And, a favorite among the derby community, "Where's the ball? There are rules. Say whaaat? One of the skate pad companies, donated all new pa...

Misadventures of an English Teacher. Monday, June 16, 2014. On Getting Back on the Horse. I haven't blogged in a really. Long time. The last half of the year was insane. It's summer break, but I haven't really started yet. School got out on June 6th and I haven't stopped working. I've had Common Core workshops and now I'm in an AVID Critical Reading workshop. However, after tomorrow, I will be officially on break! On Facebook and it could not be more on point. I printed out a list of every single kid in ...

Misadventures of an English Teacher: September 2013
http://whatarewesupposedtobedoing.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
Misadventures of an English Teacher. Monday, September 30, 2013. Exciting things are going to be happening in my AVID classroom. I can't wait to post all about it here, but my students don't know about it yet, so for now you'll just have to guess. Wednesday, September 25, 2013. I am not ashamed to admit that I'm pretty on top of current pop culture. I rarely hear my students talking about something and think, what is that? For an interactive whiteboard and a set of student clickers. Monday, September 23,...

Our Fund Drive | SLIS MetaDiners
https://metadiners.wordpress.com/2012/01/05/our-fund-drive
Well, the MetaDiners completed their first Fund Drive! Today we got a letter in the mail that finalized it: we donated a whopping total of $39.50 … but that donated 119 meals to residents around Dane County. That feels pretty good, doesn’t it? Until next time though, I am proud of our 119 meals! 3 thoughts on “ Our Fund Drive. January 30, 2012 at 8:42 am. That’s pretty cool, you guys! Found the Metadiners via a post on Bookless somewhere… what a great idea.). January 30, 2012 at 12:09 pm. Next post →.

March 2011 Edition
Saturday, April 2, 2011. Supposedly tomorrow is D-Day : though a date is not specified in Corie's post (it just says "next week"), "everyone" seems to think it's to be Monday 3/28 - does anyone know for certain the source and/or legitimacy of this info? They might even put a cap on maximum price - they've bellyached about "profiteering" enough, guess they want to be the only ones entitled to - but as in the long run the higher the price, the more cash in FooMojo's pocket, we rather doubt they will. Yep, ...

March 2011 Comments
Saturday, April 2, 2011. I found a way to get it ALL! We know our users love their pets dearly, so shortly pets will no longer be returned to the shelter after fifteen days of neglect.". Just an excerpt from the latest announcement. I have nothing to add. I'm just REALLY disgusted. March 1, 2011 3:21 PM. Ok so I made a post at Foo re: the newest change. Someone, of course, immediately flagged it inappropriate. The post received a few positive responses, then POOF! The entire thread was gone. Wth? Pushing...
