Bald Knob - Arkansas Birder
http://www.arkansasbirder.net/hotspots/bald-knob
Bald Knob National Wildlife Refuge. Shorebirds, waders, and ducks are the specialties at Bald Knob National Wildlife Refuge. The more common species often number in the hundreds, sometimes in the thousands. Among the less common birds seen at Bald Knob are Buff-breasted Sandpiper, Upland Sandpiper, Black-bellied Whistling-Duck, Wood Stork, Roseate Spoonbill, American Bittern, Black-crowned Night-Heron, Peregrine Falcon, Nelson's Sparrow, and Neotropic Cormorant. Dardanelle - Arkansas Birder

Winter is the season for birding Lake Dardanelle. Black, White-winged, and Surf Scoters, Tufted and Long-tailed Ducks, and many other species either winter here or stopover during migration along the Arkansas River. But the real show stoppers are the gulls. Such rarities as California, Thayer’s, Lesser Black-backed, Glaucous, and Sabine's Gull are seen at Lake Dardanelle with surprising frequency. Craighead - Arkansas Birder
http://www.arkansasbirder.net/hotspots/craighead
Frequently excellent, for a few scattered days each spring and fall, birding at Craighead Forest Park is extraordinary. Birding is best early in the morning following stormy nights. In a single morning we’ve had 19 species of wood-warbler and hundreds, if not thousands, of individuals. Sage Thrasher and Say’s Phoebe are among the many rarities found in the Jonesboro area in recent years. Be sure to bird the nearby Crowley's Ridge Nature Center trails and feeders while you're in the area. In a larger map.

Arkansas Birding
Friday, June 19, 2009. I got a few shots of this Carolina Wren late this afternoon as it was singing outside my window. He (or she) was full of life, singing and chirping loudly for several minutes. These little birds are fun to watch. They are 'busy bodies' for sure. Always on the move and not still often to get any good pics. But not today, as it was 'still' for several minutes allowing me to get a few pics. Good Birding and God Bless! Posted by J. Karl Clampit. Links to this post. Sunday, June 14, 2009.
