Information on Elk and Wildlife Watching and Photography in the Buffalo National River Region. Saturday, May 17, 2014. Pileated Woodpecker Leaving the Nest. I have wanted this picture for a long time. Pileated Woodpeckers aren't so easy to photograph in most places, they keep their distance. Out back of our home they are very timid. I found this nest in a dead pine and have been sitting on it on and off for a couple of weeks. Pileated Woodpecker, Ponca Wilderness. Buffalo River Chamber of Commerce. This ...

Arkansas Wildlife Photography: Elk Viewing Improved by Cold Weather and Hunting Pressure
http://arkansaswildlifephotography.blogspot.com/2014/11/elk-viewing-improved-by-cold-weather.html
Information on Elk and Wildlife Watching and Photography in the Buffalo National River Region. Monday, November 10, 2014. Elk Viewing Improved by Cold Weather and Hunting Pressure. Remember to respect private property. Last night elk watchers were running all over private property, in some cases jumping on bales of hay. This is not acceptable behavior and can result in a fat ticket from the NPS that patrols the valley. This really upsets the residents of the valley. Buffalo River Chamber of Commerce.

Behind The Lens: Pam's Grotto Falls

Pam's Grotto Falls taken from underneath the bluff. The roar of the waterfall really echoed under there and it was amazing how much wind the flowing water produced. A view from in front of the waterfall. Notice the big boulder guarding the entrance. This is a mountain stream that I crossed on the way to the fall. Posted by Danny Godfrey.
