Candy for LIDA | Pick up the pieces
https://viccobbfountain.wordpress.com/2015/04/11/candy-for-lida
Pick up the pieces. Snapshots of a stroke survivor's journey to recovery. Gravity, the Great and Powerful. Pereidolia: Do you see that face in the clouds? April 11, 2015. Like most things, progress is relative. The abilities I celebrate today could be another person’s nightmare. She has guided LIDA, from completely limp. To an arm that straightens, bends and reaches. Sensation seems to be on the increase, stimulation more painful but that’s a good thing. LIDA will work again. I have no doubt. You are com...

Pick up the pieces. Snapshots of a stroke survivor's journey to recovery. Candy for LIDA →. Gravity, the Great and Powerful. March 15, 2015. Sometimes, I feel so good, I forget my limitations. This might sound like a good thing, and in a way it is, until reality literally brings me back to earth. I’m not certain if balance issues are due to some teensy brain-damage or simply the physical lack of feeling/awareness of my entire left side. Forgetting half of one’s body quite likely throws balance off. I can...

“Uncle!” | Pick up the pieces

Pick up the pieces. Snapshots of a stroke survivor's journey to recovery. Ooh… that Smell…. Vacuum Attack →. August 13, 2015. Sometimes, I catch myself charging through the day like a one-armed Wonder Woman. Except, I sort of forget about the one-armed part. And the stroke= easily exhausted part. Since early spring, I’ve started every morning with this gung-ho attitude. It’s August, Uncle! My son shows definite signs. My sister is worse. My upright arrival at the house is always a blessing. Another small...

Pick up the pieces. Snapshots of a stroke survivor's journey to recovery. Newer posts →. May 1, 2016. Occasionally, friends and their children tumble into my deadzone. I only figure this out when it’s too late. Should we be mid-conversation and a dullness glaze my eyes and my mouth cease its blather, please know I still care about you and our chitchat, but have momentarily darted into my brain cavity to operate the mega-watt searchlight, peering into the dark moldy folds of my mind in search of your name.

Pick up the pieces. Snapshots of a stroke survivor's journey to recovery. 50 shades of therapy. 8221; →. Ooh… that Smell…. June 9, 2015. Warning, this may be TMI for some people, but for those of us who possess LIDAS there is a point to this. Lida’s fist and underarm are in a competition for the title of Queen of Stink, each endeavoring to produce the most offensive human smell. The paw smells like a soccer cleat, while the underarm smells like a Parisian cab driver. Deodorant is no match for Lida’s pit.

Pick up the pieces. Snapshots of a stroke survivor's journey to recovery. Pereidolia: Do you see that face in the clouds? Ooh… that Smell… →. 50 shades of therapy. June 6, 2015. I admit it, I read 20 or 30 pages of the book. Now more than ever, I don’t like books with stupid protagonists. Read all the Twilight books. Even Bella’s stupidity is surpassed by whatever the girl was called in 50 shades of gray. Um, this post is supposed to be about therapy devices. This experimental prototype machine secures L...

Pick up the pieces. Snapshots of a stroke survivor's journey to recovery. 50 shades of therapy →. Pereidolia: Do you see that face in the clouds? May 19, 2015. Death resided in one of the three latex glove boxes on the wall just inside the door to my ICU room. I called him Hannity. Occupying the other two boxes were George W. Bush and a Peruvian pygmi with sharpened teeth. Their faces appeared in the vinyl peaking through the box openings. They haunted me for days. Maybe I wanted them to. Do you see him?

Empowered Stroke survivor: appreciating where I've been, anticipating where I'm going. October 13, 2016. I experienced some extremely comforting drugs in Neuro-ICU after surgery. Dilaudid is a derivative of morphine. I distinctly recall asking for more of that. “Can you give me some more of that “D” stuff? I couldn’t remember the name, but … Continue reading →. Edgar Alle...
