After the strong winds on Wednesday, which were actually Calima (blowing sand in from the Africa/Sahara Desert) , Thursday was calm, warm but cloudy. We had friends round in the morning/lunchtime so took things easy. On Friday we went to the Zoo, just the second visit in our 9 years here. I have some pictures in a local exhibition and David and I had to 'steward' at the gallery yesterday between 12 and 3pm. No sales for me yet, but I've had some wonderful feedback from visitors as I'm the only coloured pencil artist in the exhibition so people are curious about the technique. This is where the portrait 'is at' now. They will all be A4 sized, graphite on Mellotex Paper. I bough...

Our local Dogs Trust Centre held their annual Fun Day yesterday - they were soooo lucky with the weather. In a moment of stupidity I decided to give her a quick spray of fixative so I could add more coloured pencil layers . and her face turned green! Well, I hope I learned a few lessons from my last drawing . today I started again on the girl in the red hat but decided to use white pastelmat paper instead of Derwent watercolour paper. Pastelmat has a slightly 'fluffy' surface (cork I think) which is wonderful for pastel work and I have done several coloured pencils works on this surface, particularly when I wanted to use a coloured support.
