Skip to main content area. Magical Secrets: A Printmaking Community. Artist Publications / Shop. For more than half a century, artists have been making etchings at Crown Point Press. They draw on copper plates using materials like tar, wax, soap, and sugar. Our printers etch the plates in an acid bath and print them by hand. The etching process has been used for making art in this way for more than five centuries. Rembrandt and Goya are two famous etchers of the past. The Crown Point Gallery.

I share the impulse to make marks. I have faith in the visual language as a vehicle for an almost universal communication. Despite changing iconography or cultural sources, there is something that resonates within me when I’m before a set of well considered marks. Whatever medium, drawing, painting, sculpture, or printmaking, the power to empathize with the dualism of surface and space, pictorial or plastic, is endless. 2012-2016 All right reserved. Jo Weiss.
