The Art Teacher's Closet

The Art Teacher's Closet. Monday, February 10, 2014. I saw this idea on Mary Making. And loved how they looked. I wanted to focus on how to use one material, the chalk pastel, and create two textures. The nebulae had to have a rough texture while the planets had to have a smooth one. These were so striking when finished! Here are my first graders snowmen. We worked on them piece by piece and glued a piece of foam craft in between each circle to give them some dimension. Here are a few we did this year:.

The Art Teacher's Closet. Thursday, March 21, 2013. In the Art Room - Easter. The Kinders worked on these adorable directed drawings of the Easter Bunny. They started with a pre-drawn circle for the head, and two pre-drawn ovals for the paws and then followed directions for the rest. The first graders drew and painted Easter Crosses. I gave them rulers, not to measure, but to trace for the long part of the cross. Then I taught them how to draw the fabric as if it was draped over the cross. Puppy Dog Tail...

I’ll show pictures of the library in another post, but in this one I’d like to share with you Minnie Paws and some ideas on how she can recommend books. Glue gun and glue sticks. Transparency film for copiers. With tiny pieces of tape, tape the transparency film over the calendar picture, so the film sheet can’t shift. With the black Sharpie, outline and fill in where needed. Take your time, some places it will work better to fill in with tiny circles, and sometimes long strokes work best. Keep in mind how much you want to include in your silhouette. Set aside. Lay your silhouette onto the background and, using tiny pieces of tape, tape the film sheet to the background sheet.
