We have now successfully implemented the basic models that takes sales history data from IFS and converts them into a reporting cube, at the time of writing this data started in 2005 and consists of approximately 2,000,000 lines. The problem faced today is reporting on sales orders that were entered onto the system in day order. Creating the day and day number was fairly straight forward and the solution can be found here. Pentaho – Open Source business intelligence. I am an IT manager with many different skill sets, the flavour of the month or months as is now the case, is business intelligence. Having settled on Pentaho, it is now time to reap the rewards, I am using some of the latest technologies out there and merging Enterprise Edition software with community edition databases. The fact though is that this tool can not only report very well but it can be used to integrate data to and from IFS, either database to database or file to database or vice versa .
