Emma Johnston: BIKE OTAGO
http://emmajohnstonxc.blogspot.com/p/bike-otago.html
Bike Otago are my shop sponsors and have been the driving force behind my riding and racing. They are so much fun, can fix anything and everything and are really supportive. I'll tell you a little about the team! Justin races professionally for Trek World Racing as a Downhiller. He spends half of his time overseas and the other half of his time in NZ. He has been on the scene since forever and is Professional as it gets! Brent has been on the downhill scene since it started and has spent a lot of time cl...

Emma Johnston: 18th April, 2011
http://emmajohnstonxc.blogspot.com/2012/04/18th-april-2011.html
Wednesday, April 18, 2012. 18th April, 2011. Today a year ago, I was lying unconscious in a Mercy Hospital operating theatre at the hands of Dr John Dunbar, about to undergo a knee osteotomy to realign my left patella. It's not often I remember what I do on certain dates, but this day I will never forget. Today I reflected on everything that has happened since that day last year. What I didn't know at the time, was how that one experience would set me on a path I had never even thought was possible.

Emma Johnston: February 2011
http://emmajohnstonxc.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Monday, February 7, 2011. A little less planning and a little more faith. I was really looking forward to racing the course I had got to know and love in such a short time. Through Tickler I was railing berms and jumping doubles having just such a great time riding my bike, fast. Going downhills is one of my strengths, certainly the part I most enjoy, so when Billy-T came around, I was still jumping and pumping pretty loose. Big mistake! And Gav, I found me a classy new box at Paka's Rotas!

Emma Johnston: In Pursuit
http://emmajohnstonxc.blogspot.com/2012/09/in-pursuit.html
Monday, September 17, 2012. Peehi Manini, what the hell is that? Sounds like peepee mankini, or Piri Weepu. No, stop thinking about peepee or mankinis you dirty, dirty Kiwi, it's actually a street name in Waitahanui near Taupo. Hutt local girl Bex Houston pointed this out to me on the way to the Day Night Thriller, you'll never hear the end of it now girl! Fortunately for me, this subsiding illness coincided with Tony "Tiger" Keith asking "What are you doing with your riding? Great stuff, Emma.

Emma Johnston: January 2011
http://emmajohnstonxc.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Thursday, January 27, 2011. The people you’ll meet. the places you’ll go. Willow Koerber has really inspired me as of late, she is one of two of my #1 heroes on the bike. Funnily enough, it’s not because she’s one of the most talented mountain bikers in the world - it’s because she is genuinely balanced and spirited within herself. It’s just fricken awesome! Besides, how would you know what a special moment is when you don’t have a tough moment to compare it to? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Emma Johnston: Mojo, Derek and Me
http://emmajohnstonxc.blogspot.com/2011/10/mojo-derek-and-me.html
Monday, October 17, 2011. Mojo, Derek and Me. It's been a while since I last broke something, probably 6 weeks ago, so it is high time for an update on the situation. Lately a lot of stuff has been changing - life as I know it really. It's already the end of Semester 2 and I leave for Wellington in 28 days. Scarfie life by it's very nature is always changing and I absolutely thrive on it. You never know what's going to happen next or who you're going to meet. October 18, 2011 at 8:00 PM.

Emma Johnston: September 2011
http://emmajohnstonxc.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Sunday, September 4, 2011. What Was I Thinking? Following the Sheila Dikshit travesty of 2010, Paul Henry suddenly found himself thrown into an abyss of scandal, culminating in accusations of racism, and ultimately his resignation. During the ensuing spare time he found he suddenly had, he wrote a memoir called What Was I Thinking. Detailing his methods of madness since childhood. Love him or hate him, I fucking love him so I don't care what you think. Can we slow down? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Emma Johnston: January 2012
http://emmajohnstonxc.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Sunday, January 29, 2012. It's that time of year. Smack bang in the middle of the Nationals season. In fact, just yesterday it was National Champs in Nelson - congratulations everyone on what I have heard was some pretty hard racing, great battles and even better weather! Reason being for all this - I am injured yet again, but not in the traditional sense. I never got to the bottom of it at that time, and it usually disappeared within a few days. My tests came back fine for everything - except Ferritin.

Emma Johnston: Land of the long flat white
http://emmajohnstonxc.blogspot.com/2011/04/land-of-long-flat-white.html
Saturday, April 30, 2011. Land of the long flat white. Lance is right. It's not about the bike. It's about the coffee. Since when was it ever about the bike? Silly, skinny, misguided roadies. I digress, as part of my feeble quest to become a 'legit' roadie, I have been pondering the remarkable correlation between cyclists and coffee consumption. Perhaps the ability to shot consecutive short blacks is the weak man's substitute for failing to grind a 32-16 up 3 Mile Hill? Unnamed flattie failed on all acco...
