Me in Uganda!

Wednesday, 16 July 2008. I've never done anything like this before, so I don't know how good I'm going to be at writing interestingly or keeping up to date, but I'll try! So from the beginning. In April 2007 I went to the Isle of Coll (a Hebridean Island) for a selection course to take a gap year with the charity Project Trust. In order to take my place, I had to raise £4480. And from a few donations from trusts and the like. A couple of weeks ago I went on the compulsory training course. And the headmis...

My Gap Year in Uganda: April 2008

http://nicolainuganda.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 29 April 2008. I'm not going to say a whole lot about it here as I have a seperate fundraising page for that at www.justgiving.com/nicolacameron. Other than since last August I've been busy busy busy raising funds towards my target of £4480. It was daunting at the start as I opened up a letter titled "FUNDRAISING DEADLINES" in bold but I've really embraced the challenge and after getting my head round all the organising I can honestly say its been enjoyable. PHEW! Monday, 28 April 2008. This yea...

My Gap Year in Uganda: My Project Profile :)

http://nicolainuganda.blogspot.com/2008/05/my-project-profile.html

Friday, 30 May 2008. My Project Profile :). Bulenga Modern was set up a few years ago by a forward thinking and energetic Ugandan. Although relatively close to the capital, Bulenga's chickens and dirt tracks give it a rural feel. The school is small by Ugandan standards with only 188 pupils aged 4 - 13. Classrooms are basic - a blackboard and chalk and nothing more - though teachers have done their best to jolly them up with the few resources they do have. Uganda will be a fascinating country in which to...

My Gap Year in Uganda: The story so far

http://nicolainuganda.blogspot.com/2008/04/so-what-am-i-actually-doing.html

Monday, 28 April 2008. The story so far. Okay, so I've started this blog to keep a sort of online journal of my gap year that I'm going to be taking in Uganda, Africa. Even though I'm not entirely sure what kind of internet. Connection I'll have out there! So basically, in August I'm planning on spending an entire twelve months in Uganda, running youth clubs and providing activities for the children including sports clubs and arts and crafts classes. So why did I choose to take a gap year? Year I was sti...

My Gap Year in Uganda: Bulenga Modern Primary School

http://nicolainuganda.blogspot.com/2008/05/bulenga-mordern-primary-school.html

Wednesday, 28 May 2008. Bulenga Modern Primary School. My desk officer, Keish, emailed to finally let me know the name of my project :). I'm going to "Bulenga Modern Primary School". Although I'll have to wait for the rest of the details in the post, after a quick internet search I found out that Bulenga is 30 minutes away from the Ugandan capital of Kampala. So not too far out into the middle of nowhere! Just have to wait for the postman now! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). My Gap Year in Uganda.

Where You Go, I'll Go...Following God Back to Haiti

Where You Go, I'll Go.Following God Back to Haiti. Saturday, November 22, 2014. Mislene, one of the kids I help with homework in the afternoon. It was a treat to walk him home from school. Magdala and Kervenson. The only person she wanted helping her was Kervenson. She allowed me to help by getting her more water. That girl knows how to wash some clothes. On some Friday nights, I make popcorn for the children at the orphanage for movie night. Making popcorn was never so much fun. Well, I finally. So, I p...

The ideology of me. A Welsh girl who hates rugby, whaaaaat? March 2, 2016.
