M51, also known as the Whirlpool Galaxy, is in fact two galaxies interacting with each other after a collision in the past. They are almost 25 million light years away from us. This open star cluster with associated nebulosity, also known as the Pacman Nebula, is 10,000 light years away from us, and is in our very own Milky Way. This image was taken through a narrowband Hydrogen Alpha filter.

Seite findet sich eine kleine Dokumentation zur Rolldachhütte, die ich seit 2011 für den festen Aufbau nutze. Neben der cD Galaxie NGC 7720. Zeigten sich bei der Aufnahme zwei galaktische Auffälligkeiten im Randbereich des Galaxienhaufens Abell 2634. Gerade weil man auch hier Abweichungen vom Standardaufbau entdecken kann.

Thursday, June 7th, 2012. Venus Transit - 6/5/12. We couldn't find any good spots in the Nat'l Park, due to either too many trees and/or parking limitations. However, my old astro-buddy got permission to use the home of an elderly widow near the entrance of the park. The view was spectacular. Friday, March 30th, 2012.
