Astronomeer.com: Moon & Planets

Moon, Planets and Comets. A rare occasion: seeing the five classical planets and the moon simultaneously. Mercury transit of 8 November 2006. Picture of the gibbous Moon on 19 December 2004. In 2004 I put my Canon 300D on the prime focus of my Meade ETX 90 to make a photo of Venus. The result is not that great, but still I would like share it with you. Comet Hale Bopp early 1997 from Oman. You can clearly see the double tail. (Leica RE with 135mm).

Astronomeer.com - occultations by the Moon

http://www.astronomeer.com/occultations/index.html

Occultations of stars by the Moon. Solar eclipses are rare, but occultations of other stars by the moon happen on a daily basis. They are most easily observed when the dark limb of the moon move before the star. The video on the left, which is reduced to 340x240 pixels, shows the occultation of the magnitude 6.2 star 78 Aquarii by an almost full moon on 22 October 2007. The bright upper right corner is the sunlit part of the moon. The lunar limb is visible close to the star. The average speed of the moon...

Gedeeltelijke maansverduistering 16 augustus 2008

http://www.astronomeer.com/eclipses/16aug2008/index.html

Partial lunar eclipse and planet Neptune on 16 August 2008. The partial lunar eclipse of 16 August 2008 was special in the sense that the faint planet Neptune was close to the moon. I could see them both in my 3 degree wide field, and also took a picture with my telezoom at 280mm. This picture was also published on the website of Sky and Telescope.

Astronomeer.com: Moon & Planets

http://www.astronomeer.com/moon-planets/mercury-transit2006.html

Mercury transit on 8 November 2006. The Mercury transit of November 8 was not visible from Europe, but Rafael Granha, from Rio de Janeiro, was so kind to send me this picture. Mercury is the little dot on the right side of the sun. Left below Mercury a large sunspot is visible. The next planetary transits across the sun will be Venus on June 6, 2012 and Mercury on May 9, 2016. NASA maintains a good website.
