https://alok.wordpress.com/2006/09/18/a-vacation-that-cost-me-a-fortune
8230;down the hallways of technology, marketing, capital market, and ramblings of the devil ’s mind…. September 18, 2006. A vacation that cost me a fortune. Market crossed 12K again today after going ‘fana’ in May-June 2006. It had lost more than 3000 points around that time. So what went wrong? Nothing except that I went on a vacation to Mussourie, in July and the market lost few points on that eventful day – and it triggered margin calls on my holdings…! Posted in Money Talk. No doubt that we prefer to get our electronic gadgets from countries like US/Canada/Japan. Is the Ministry of Trade and commerce oblivious of this fact? And I can just imagine the amount of sales tax that could have been generated within India, had it been priced at par with US/Canada etc? I am pretty sure, the sales of iPod in India would go up d...

Is it somebody who has a MBA in Marketing, read all books on Advertising, Branding, well versed with 5C-4P, market segmentation, conjoint analysis, 2-by-2 matrix? Or is it the likes of Kotler, C.K. Prahlad of 'Bottom of the Pyramid' fame, or the much adored professors of marketing in B-Schools? These thoughts were further reinforced today while talking to my brother Animesh. Tum log thok mein 14...

Few of the colleagues strated the CAT preperation again, and I for one, use to laugh at those poor souls, who were planning to leave a well paying job to go back to school! Posted by Alok @ 3:04 PM. A blog slightly away from the league - eServices is the project that i have been put into. I am having tough time getting a place for me among these Americans. I have been portrayed to my clients as the architect, a team lead and an onsite-offshore coordinator from Cognizant side. Whew! Posted by Alok @ 1:02 AM. Tuesday, August 03, 2004. My tryst with MBA. This blog is about my tryst with MBA. Friday, July 29, 2005. Today was one of those days, when i did nothing, except playing with JMP. JMP is a statistical analysis tool with phenomenal features. It was introduced to us by our statistics profs - Prof. Bob Stine. And Prof Richard Waterman. So what do i make out of it? This is one thing which i like doing, putting together learnings from one subject to other, or in real life. Thank you Profs. for the way you taught us Statistics&...Hats ...

My tryst with MBA. This blog is about my tryst with MBA. Friday, February 18, 2005. The gruelling application process. Lets see how it turns out to be. Luckily i din't had to run pillar to post for the recos, as the recommendars Sunil and Madhu both are in Minneapolis itself. Wondering what they will write in the reco. - hopefully nothing bad, if not excellent. The sturggle for a completely 'unprofessional essay' continues. Posted by Alok @ 12:07 AM. My tryst with MBA. This blog is about my tryst with MBA. Wednesday, August 24, 2005. 6 steps to greatness. That was my reaction (and the whole class's too) to today's LDP(Leadership Development Program) class by Dr. Rajeshwar Upadhaya. Infact he himself made a mockery of it by saying "If there are 6 steps to greatness, I can write a book titled 'Greatness for dummies'". But after 3 hours of class, all of us were convined that his 6 steps can really create some difference in us. These were:. Rajeshwar is ...

8230;down the hallways of technology, marketing, capital market, and ramblings of the devil ’s mind…. August 30, 2006. Onam Boat Race and Organizational Behaviour. How fast can a team of 100 rowers row a boat. Statistically these 10 rowers selected at random can row the boat at the same average speed as the larger boat. So the race should end in a draw. As Jim Clarke founder of Netscape puts it). The startups are ready to pay exhorbitantly high salary to recruit the bright guys (you need to pay much ...

8230;down the hallways of technology, marketing, capital market, and ramblings of the devil ’s mind…. November 3, 2006. Five point someone…. It took me to my IT-BHU days. Though I was no where near being a 5-pointer but not too far either. The book reminded me of everything that we used to do in the campus. We saw two lights of a jeep (BHU Security) and that scared the shit out of us. We paddled the bicycle at a pace that wud have put Lance Armstrong to shame! Laquo; Google on a shopping spree….
