Two groups of parishioners and friends braved the cold wind and hail stormon the day after Boxing Day to complete the planned local walks. Group one walked via Rectory Lane and Drunken Pit ( the long walk 1.5 hrs). Group two walked via Fisherton and Hemmock copse. All proceeds went to Atherington Childrens Playing Field. ATHERINGTON INVADED BY SCARECROWS!

In 2009 planning permission and building regulations approval were gained to build a new pavilion on the existing site. Using our own funds plus 1000 kindly donated from Devon Playing Field Association. 500 from the Barnstaple Rotary Club. And 500 from our local County Councillor, Albert Cook’s. Atherington Playing Field and Pavilion. Putting the heart back into Atherington. How the build went. Our thanks ……. A new gate was purchased, a ride on mower purchased and gang mowers were donated. Playing field equipment was repainted and the gang mowers repaired. A work party was organised to erect the new shed/pavilion. A BMX track was built by the children and park seats repaired. Three picnic tables and a generator were bought. During this period a new slide and infant play system were purchased.
