Autumnus Horribilis | Wiggins Words and Images
https://wigginswordsandimages.wordpress.com/autumnus-horribilis
Wiggins Words and Images. I’m pretty attached to my skin. I couldn’t live on the Equator. I love the change of seasons, especially the winding down of autumn. But there a dark side to fall: Halloween, All Souls Day and el Día de los Muertos, mark the shortening of the days when life is a little more precarious. I’m wary of this time. Over the years I’ve experienced the following in October and November:. My granddaughter’s birth followed by postpartum complications for her mom. This year it’s my. Flood: ...

Radical Retirement Gets More So | Wiggins Words and Images

Wiggins Words and Images. I’m pretty attached to my skin. August 13, 2015. Radical Retirement Gets More So. The main reason I’ve been mostly absent from the blog this summer has been that my husband and I have been mulling over one of the most important and difficult decisions of our 20 years together. I watched this child’s birth. She is bright and funny and beautiful. She can also be argumentative, defiant and has a low boredom tolerance and need for entertainment. Part of my job will be to...So we agr...

The Wolf | Wiggins Words and Images

Wiggins Words and Images. I’m pretty attached to my skin. November 4, 2016. More than one person is wondering, if not saying aloud, why did I wait so long to go to the doctor after two weeks of coughing? The short and easy answer is I kept thinking it would be better the next day. Magical thinking. It was just a tickly drainage cough and I didn’t really feel bad, except for interrupted sleep. Just soldier on. It’s not conscious self-sacrifice; it’s just what we do. Mostly, it’s. A few days ago I wrote:.

Retreat | Wiggins Words and Images
https://wigginswordsandimages.wordpress.com/2016/10/26/retreat
Wiggins Words and Images. I’m pretty attached to my skin. October 26, 2016. I’m having a recurring fantasy: a cabin or cottage on a lake, river, stream, creek or beach, even an island. Provisioned with staple foods, firewood and household needs. No internet, phone for emergencies only. To come back. Hee hee. Either of these would do…*. I’m not unique and I’ll bet everyone overwhelmed with parenting. Experiences something similar. Rabbi Evan Moffic’s blog. There is a thing in me that dreamed of trees.

Wiggins Words and Images. I’m pretty attached to my skin. October 11, 2016. In Australian Cattle Dog. Happy Birthday, Junior! Our granddaughter moved in with us in August of last year. In early October, I was browsing Facebook and saw this picture, posted by my daughter (Chloe’s mom):. Since we had Chloe I was considering getting a dog, and after this brief exchange. I agreed to take him, and he joined us a few days later, on October 11. He was perfectly house-trained. Laquo; Previous post. 2 responses t...

Wiggins Words and Images. I’m pretty attached to my skin. December 7, 2016. People tell me I’m a hero, or even a saint, for taking on the responsibility of raising a grandchild. My comfort animal and nap buddy. Mostly, as I said, it’s what you do. I wake up earlier than I ever thought I’d need to in retirement and just put one foot in front of the other. Things at which I am terrible:. I am lousy at parking. It’s become a joke with Chloe when I take her to school. I park on both a slight sl...As an artis...

Wiggins Words and Images. I’m pretty attached to my skin. April 21, 2016. In Blue heeler dogs. Leaps forward, hops back. Short update on granny parenting. It gets easier, it gets harder, we make progress and we fall back. The school counselor and Chloe’s teacher give me good reports. We’re doing better with sleep and getting to school on time. The therapist is helping a lot with dietary advice and supplements. Chloe is making friends and seems more confident and happy. Laquo; Previous post. Address never...

athousandteas | The greatest WordPress.com site in all the land!
The greatest WordPress.com site in all the land! December 19, 2012. Today’s tea is Bourbon Vanilla. And it is a black flavored tea from Highwire Coffee Roasters (although I purchased this back when it was Peaberry’s). So this is a tea that may or may not be the same that they carry. It’s quite possible they have a different source for it. Even though the vanilla is called “Bourbon” vanilla, it does not mean that bourbon liquor is processed with the vanilla. (Although I like the idea! December 11, 2012.

athousandthankyousaday | A chronicle of our family's time in Japan
A chronicle of our family's time in Japan. August 9, 2015. I’m not ready to leave. Frank is on the cusp of really learning Japanese. We understand the culture here so much better and are more comfortable in it, so it is easier for us to move through it. We are making friends. Real Ones. Friendships, that if we could stay just a few more months would solidify into deep relationships, which are the kinds of friendships that I delight in and crave. We know how to order and eat food.
