A Blog in Narative Mode. I Photograph →. December 31, 2010. Or at least, I used to. I wrote often – tried to write every day. I had lots of friends – though I never met most of them. And then I stopped. Just stuttered to a jarring halt. I am not sure why. A change in jobs sort of nailed the coffin lid shut, but if I am honest about it, I had really already stopped. I just couldn’t seem to muster the mental oomph to push thought onto the screen. Call it burn out, maybe. From my first post: Why Odd Mix?

Newer and Improved-er Things – The Odd Mix

The Odd Mix that is the life I lead. Newer and Improved-er Things. New and Improved Things. Newer and Improved-er Things. This is my third shot at “101 Things”. I am doing this without reviewing the first two – it will be interesting to see how they compare. I am the husband of an amazing lady. She is an equestrienne, dog-training, homeschool teaching, entrepreneurial phenom. And my biggest cheerleader. We’ve been married more than half her life. I’m more than half way to ninety. They are all really smart.

I Farm | First Person Present

A Blog in Narative Mode. January 4, 2011. This statement is gradually becoming less true in the present tense and more in the past (and perhaps in the future tense as well). We have gradually been paring down our small family farm. We are down to a couple of donkeys, three goats, a dozen or so chickens, and, as of yesterday, two pigs. As of today it we only have one pig. We re-homed one 250lb porker into our freezer. Cut up fat rendering for lard. About half the sausage meat. So, for now, I farm. Dude, I...

I will NOT scribble on the children. Tue 7 Feb 2012. All the best things she said. Posted by bon under coping stuff. The day after. Susan’s gone. I dreamed about her yesterday morning. we were some kind of Thelma and Louise, secret agents laughing, doing vague, crazy dream-things until little feet woke me at 5:45 am and i rose blurry from the fog and i wondered. And then i waited – edgy and wrong – all day, and then i heard. And then your heart swells up and leaks out your eyes. This is my first real exp...

A Blog in Narative Mode. I Farm →. January 3, 2011. I used to take lots of photos. Nice ones. Even with a mediocre point-and-shoot I got lots of good ones. I actually found my old camera today. I am going to see if it still works. If not, I will stick to my newer one and see if I can’t at least go back to the basics. But most importantly, I am starting to shoot again. And paying attention to doing it right. And giving myself license to get it wrong until I start getting it right again. I Farm →. You are ...
