Wednesday, September 28, 2011. Some stats around last Sunday's course. Klondyke Road tops out at 377m asl, and is the high point of the race. The first climb is 2.5 kilometres in length, with an average gradient of 9.5%, but there is a kilometre at an average of 11.1% and a maximum gradient of 15%. After the short descent the next climb is 2.9 kms @ 5.2% average. The climb after you came off the metal, and up to Onewhero is 2.8 kms @ 4.1%. To Wairamama hall it's 4.1kms @3.1%. Wednesday, May 2, 2012. Race of 6 Friends™ V4 Announced. The date for the fourth version of the Race of 6 Friends™ has been set, it's the 24th June 2012. Like the last edition, the race will start and finish at Riverhead. The course is new again, and will take in a number of new and different roads, along with the welcome return of a favourite piece of road from a previous edition. Load the date and spread the news. Sunday, December 4, 2011. Deep in the pavilion of the clown. Saturday, glorious day, felt like summer had finally slipped in the door. It was to be the first ride this season where I headed out the door with no undershirt, no arm warmers, just the essentials. Coming over the hill into Piha, the sea and sky showed promise of summer, a deep blue, the waves were clear in definition, and the bush was verdant, hard not to be a happy man. Our descent was easy, and included a small stop to admire the view.
