Aunt Reen's Place: July 2014

http://auntreensplace.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html

Big Leap 82" x 82" cutting instructions. Big Leap 56"x 56" cutting instructions. Monday, July 28, 2014. July's 4th Sunday Finish. My evening stitch project this past week was Dutch Treat. I had been warned about the teeny windows of the School house block. They were indeed a challenge for me. Barely 1/4" in size, the basting stitches didn't hold. As you can see - my windows are all crooked. (sigh). Now it's time to pull out my July block for Benjamin Biggs. Every quilt tells a story. Sunday, July 20, 2014.

Big Leap 82" x 82" cutting instructions. Big Leap 56"x 56" cutting instructions. Friday, October 3, 2014. Jane Quilts - Show and Tell. It's been a while since I've posted Show and Tell from my circle of friends. I thought I'd share what Irene has been busy working on. First up is her scrappy Basket quilt. And here is her beautiful Pink applique Oak Leaves quilt. And here is Wendy with her small Nautical Jane quilt. The quilt was made using Dear Jane triangle blocks. And Donna's Candles for Jane quilt.

Earlier this spring, I designed a Summer themed Row for Kelly Ann's. Quilt shop titled Beach Balls. Those familiar with my teaching style will not be surprised to hear that I've included simplified instructions for easier assembly of the blocks. Here is the basic row that I designed, sewn together. Here's a look at the VIRGINIA.

Big Leap 82" x 82" cutting instructions. Big Leap 56"x 56" cutting instructions. Sunday, May 25, 2014. A Small challenge quilt. I am participating in a Coin Quilt challenge. The only criteria was "make a coin quilt". No size or pattern specifications - whatever you envision a coin quilt to be. These are the fabrics I gathered together. I decided to make a traditional coin quilt. And I knew I wanted to make it small. (no surprise there). Every quilt tells a story. Wednesday, May 7, 2014. Today is the firs...

Projects and plans, thoughts and travels, quilts and knitting, cats and critters, fiber and fun and folks. Wednesday, January 14, 2015. Catching up on the last few weeks of quilting activity! I believe when I last left off I was working on the Quiltville Mystery Quilt, Grand Illusion. Well, some of my quilting friends decided against doing that one because it had 280 half-square triangles in the first clue. Under those circumstances, of course it made sense to join in the New Year's Eve Mystery Quilt too.

Projects and plans, thoughts and travels, quilts and knitting, cats and critters, fiber and fun and folks. Friday, November 28, 2014. Thanksgiving is a good time to catch up on my blogging- there are many many things I'm thankful for this year! Anyway, I've had a recurrence of back issues, mainly a herniated disk that had even the ortho docs widening their eyes and saying my, that's a big one! Baby is due in January.). Then I got the bindings sewn onto the first two, and onto the Millennium Star quilt.

Projects and plans, thoughts and travels, quilts and knitting, cats and critters, fiber and fun and folks. Saturday, May 16, 2015. Sometimes, things begin to snowball, and all you can do is hang on for the ride. That seems to be the theme with my UFO collection this month. I've suddenly been inspired to dig in and get them rounded up and on the road to FOs! Well, the stars seemed to align in such a way that I needed to go through that tub and make some choices. And thanks, Anne. The Mariner's Compass was...

Projects and plans, thoughts and travels, quilts and knitting, cats and critters, fiber and fun and folks. Saturday, April 11, 2015. Finished the top of the Jumping Jax Flash quilt! That would have been fine except that I sent them in batches, so the first ones were home before the others had even left- meaning it was time to bind them and start sending them off to their new homes! Now that I'm 4 months post-surgery and on into PT, I'm able to do a little more all the time. Standing up is still an is...

First pinwheel quilt is on its way north to the longarmers- feels good to have that accomplished! The second one is ready to go- just needs a little pressing to make the borders lie flat and then it's going to be matched with a back and queued for mailing. The quilt supervisor got a good workout today. He's sleeping it off now. I also worked on a little or...
