Art walk san diego 2015. Walked down to Little Italy to check out this years art walk, and headed over to SDMCA to revisit the work of El Anatsui. The pieces are monumental which make me wonder what happens to them after an exhibition like this. How does anyone have this work in their home. Do they become public works? Or are they stored for years to come. How I can get lost in the pieces is mesmerizing, and something that always makes me enjoy the work even more. I saw this and imagined it. At 6:26am th...

Some serious communication going on. Links to this post. Todays rain kept me from riding the bike and instead headed out for an urban hike. The plan was to check out the new Central Library downtown, from the inside. Instead I ended up at MCASD to check out Rita McBride's installations. Once again I have some very good fortune. Not only will these installations be down soon, but they were so worth experiencing. Links to this post. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Talking to myself and notes.

Whenever I flight to vancouver from home I rent a documentary to watch on my iPhone. Sometimes it is environmental like Dam Nation. But this time it was all art. Links to this post. By my dad and i. On Sunday I met a friend at MCASD to see the show Dear Nemesis, Nicole Eisenman 1993-2013. So nice to experience engaging, provocative work that has you thinking, and is visually beautiful. I will go back and see the work again before it leaves. Links to this post. Orange is the New Black. This morning, after finishing my third time watching, Ai Weiwei: Never Sorry. I thought maybe I'd give Orange is the New Black. A try I have had reservations about watching it, but everyone just raves about it. I see w...

Lake Poway to the top of Mt Woodson. The air crystal clear enough to see islands off the coast and snow on top of San Gorgonio Mt. Links to this post. I was nervous to ride, the last two time my neck was so soar I could not look to the left or down to see where the chain was in the de-railer. Not a safe way to ride. Physical therapy was not working, yoga helped, but the pain was so great I feared that I would have to stop riding someday soon. Today I stretched, and put on an analgesic rub. On the way bac...

Today I walked to Balboa Park to participate in the March Against Monsanto 2015. The speakers were informative and inspiring.I learnt about Fast Track Trade. While walking home I thought about this day, the issues, and how messed up the world still is, and how difficult it seems to make change. Often time I beat myself up about not being more involved, and how think endlessly about how I can make a difference. Today I felt good about my involvement on this earth. Links to this post. Links to this post. While FaceTiming a friend I realized I need a border on the pieces for the Garden Party. 43 out of 100 images had been touched in Photoshop. My heart rate went up and a bit of panic set in. The Photoshop is step 2 in the process. There are 4 steps total, to get them ready. It took a little playing around to find a system. And as I went through the 43, fixing the image size, and creating a border, it felt good to re-visit them, and see that I liked them. Links to this post. I almost qu...

Figment free art: cart. Wonderful day at the Figment San Diego event today. Chicano Park was a perfect venue, perfect weather, and very appreciative recipients giving my art a home.
