Ecole du Bon Gout. Saturday, August 15, 2015. Fête Votive d'Uzés 2015. Chers Amis de L'Ecole du Bon Goût, Every year, just before the 15th of August, here in the usually quiet village of Uzés the whole place goes into a crazy, chaotic and puzzling mode called the “Fête Votive” for three nights in a row! Conveniently there is both an ambulance on standby just off the boulevard, as well as an air-med helicopter stationed at the edge of town each night of this event for those who need hospitalization from t...

Ecole du Bon Gout. Friday, June 27, 2014. Chers Amis de L’Ecole du Bon Gout! Today I sense some sort of “discomfort” with the “fabulous”. Many seem to be more comfortable with “plain”, “ordinary” and “familiar”. One strange example of this is if you look around in the first class cabin on an international flight, many occupants of those pricey seats are dressed in “t” shirts , cut offs and flip flops! Vivre le bon gout! Robert E. Smith. Visit the Au Vieux Paris Antiques homepage ( click here. Somehow in ...

When I was in Paris last fall visiting Musee Carnavalet, I had the truly delicious experience of seeing the two newly reopened 17th century rooms which had been closed for almost a decade of restoration. Musee Carnavalet is truly a “High Temple of Bon Gout” and is opened from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 am till 6:00 pm and is FREE to the public, svp! Robert E. Smith.

Ecole du Bon Gout. Tuesday, January 27, 2015. Picture frames are works of art too! Chers Amis de l’Ecole du Bon Goût, Bonjour. The evolution of “picture framing” had its beginnings with the simple raised moldings of the outer edges of Gothic religious paintings on wood panels and evolved through numerous creative incarnations to frames becoming important works of art in themselves. From there the evolution returned again to more classical design sources of a more “tailored” architectural mode. Following ...
