A View from Capitol Hill: Be Optimistic

http://www.aviewfromcapitolhill.blogspot.com/2008/06/be-optimistic.html

A View from Capitol Hill. Sunday, June 22, 2008. While many see the exponentially growing price of gas as a burden to American society, it provides an incentive for those of us who would normally drive a block to pick up a coke from a gas station to get out and be active. As Go-Getter for Government stated in his article As Gas Prices Increase, Extra Spendings Decrease. In the end, you WILL save money. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). A View from Capitol Hill. Wednesday, June 4, 2008. Talking about the negative effects of limiting the visas for skilled foreign professionals, The Washington Post persuades it’s readers that this new policy is irrational. The article is geared towards readers who are pro-immigration and unaware of the complete facts about foreigners to the United States. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). A View from Capitol Hill: Immigration Detention System

http://www.aviewfromcapitolhill.blogspot.com/2008/06/immigration-detention-system.html

A View from Capitol Hill. Wednesday, June 11, 2008. When we came to America in pursuit of a better life, we were immigrants and not the natural inhabitants were we not? So then why is it that we show no sympathy for other immigrants that come over to America looking for the exact same freedom? Yes, illegal immigration is a very heated topic of debate and that is not what I am focusing on, but whether detainees in prison are immigrants, illegal or not, they should be treated in a humane way. A View from Capitol Hill: No Child Should Be Forced to Stay Behind

http://www.aviewfromcapitolhill.blogspot.com/2008/06/no-child-should-be-forced-to-stay.html

A View from Capitol Hill. Sunday, June 22, 2008. No Child Should Be Forced to Stay Behind. I noticed the shift in focus of course material my senior year of high school when we were allotted a certain amount of time every school day to just review for TAKS testing. I understand the state’s concern with the test scores, since they will determine the amount of government funding the state will receive each year, but why is it that this is ALL we are pushing for? Rhonda's take on US Government: America…Let’s Keep it the Land of the Free

Rhonda's take on US Government. Sunday, June 29, 2008. America…Let’s Keep it the Land of the Free. One of the most wonderful things about the Country we live in are the freedoms we possess. It never ceases to amaze me when people want to willingly give up those freedoms in the name of “Safety”. My colleague, Palek. Patel, in her blog entitled “ Safety Itself. During the Prohibition of Alcohol as mandated by the Eighteenth Amendment. As ratified on January 29, 1919, along with the Volstead Act. 8217;t mak...

http://rhondainthegov.blogspot.com/2008/06/eye-for-eye.html

Rhonda's take on US Government. Thursday, June 26, 2008. An Eye for an Eye? That is the issue many debate when it comes down to our justice system. It still seems to be the issue when dealing with the rape of children. A person can get the death penalty for murdering someone but not for raping a child according to a recent 5-4 decision by Supreme Court justices on June 25, 2008. Went public with statements of dissent towards the Supreme Court ruling. But, realistically, what else could they say? In defen...

A View From Chuck's Window. Saturday, January 10, 2015. One thing we need to do is to get to know teachers as human beings, folks just like us with the same needs, desires, expectations and ambitions. We need to understand that they’re people first; then highly skilled professionals second. We need to remember that we have changed our expectations for doctors and nurses. We have taken doctors off their pedestals and increased our admiration for the nursing profession. We need to do the same for teachers.
