Mess and Motivation. – aviewfromthelou

https://aviewfromthelou.wordpress.com/2015/05/10/mess-and-motivation

A view or two from the eyeballs of an Actor living in London. May 10, 2015. May 13, 2015. Imagine this, only IN THE BED.- Lou’s Bedroom circa 2001. When it comes to organisiation in my work related life- Acting, I am totally together, in control, always prepared, always on top of research/lines/Actioning/character work etc. This is very troubling for me. I am,by my own shameful admission, a woman of extremes- a flighty, easily-distracted, focused, disciplined jumble of contradiction! Do things for myself.

A view or two from the eyeballs of an Actor living in London. April 26, 2015. May 22, 2015. In order to accurately depict the Willy Wonka boat trip of emotion that you go on immediately following an audition, I would like to draw your attention to the following image –. To clarify, may I refer you to the below outline of events that occur directly after an audition-. Surfing on a Seismic sea wave of delirium. (The audition ‘high’). Great urgency to call someone immediately to celebrate and debrief. Me: Y...

Acting- The Old Ball And Chain. – aviewfromthelou

https://aviewfromthelou.wordpress.com/2015/05/03/acting-the-old-ball-and-chain

A view or two from the eyeballs of an Actor living in London. May 3, 2015. May 4, 2015. Acting- The Old Ball And Chain. To Non-Actor friends this must sound insane but this is what being an actor is about, this is what we sign ourselves up for- Witness’s present in the form of a dark anticipatory sea of faces (an audience) rather than a bright and beaming group of well-wishers (a congregation). Will the cast like me? So how in the hell do we do it? Time and again pick ourselves up? I think this is what n...

Superhuman Sensitivity – aviewfromthelou

https://aviewfromthelou.wordpress.com/2015/06/10/superhuman-sensitivity

A view or two from the eyeballs of an Actor living in London. June 10, 2015. June 10, 2015. I cried at the John Lewis Penguin advert, I cried at documentary. I cried at the Germany/Brazil football match (I should mention I am neither of German or Brazilian descent and to give you perspective on my football knowledge: I call half time ‘the Interval’), I cried at the dog pretending to be a robber on. Britain’s Got Talent. To weep: Too Weak? There’s a lot of debate surrounding the methodology on how t...

Acting C. V./Resume. Monthly Archives: November 2009. I would like to share with you my favorite maxim. It goes like this:. Hell hath no fury like a vested interest masquerading as a moral principle. I was born, then, when I was 5 years old I had my tonsils out. As an adult I had cosmetic surgery once, while I lay on the operating table one surgeon said to another, ‘So how’s your kitchen coming along? The other guy said, ‘Great. It’s costing an arm and a leg though.’. Oh, I know I’m an actor, and oh yes,...

Acting C. V./Resume. Tag Archives: Patricia Conolly. The Stage at the end of the Lane. Every theatrical venture is a triumph of the improbable over the impossible. None more so than a theatre in northern Maine where I’ve just had an intense few days. Lives in a large barn where swallows nest at the end of a long driveway on a peninsula where seals frolic in the swift flowing tidal inlets. Here I am with an actress that I know well, Patricia Conolly of Broadway fame:. Here are some of the company: Monique...

I met Theodore Bikel in 2006 when he, a sprightly 81 year old, and that young actress of my acquaintance Trish Conolly, were doing a two-handed play at the Coconut Grove Theatre in Miami. It was a domestic comedy about, among other things, the physical inconveniences of advancing years. Theo died a little over a week ago. We dined. Then he sang. We pushed him to the centre of the room in front of the band. He sang two songs. Afterwards, outside, waiting...

Acting C. V./Resume. I did not meet him as any of the above. I knew him first as a big-framed, big-hearted man, with a persistent, in fact constant, deliciously salty sense of humour.

A view from the laundry pile…. 8230;it's all about perspective. The Soap Dish: Passive Aggressive Much? I’m sure I could use my time more effectively while doing the dishes; plotting and planning the days activities, mentally going through the refrigerator and cupboards trying to decide what to make for dinner, balancing the checkbook in my head (ok, that one even made me. Laugh out loud…), or even singing to the dog (what? My initial thought was “who are. 8221; Followed closely by “really? 8221; Of cour...

Life Beyond the Casinos

Life Beyond the Casinos. On March 2, 2018 by jefferyrn. Ricky went to the doctor this morning and was told he has nothing to worry about. Thank God. The stress was killing us. Those numbers while out of normal range were not in the danger zone. They fluctuate when you are getting over a cold or flu. I told him this but he needed a real doctor to confirm it. I have already started the eating more healthy part. Of course I expected immediate results from eating right for 3 days. Ha! I was going to lose 30 ...

A steep hill to climb – The Route to the top

The Route to the top. A steep hill to climb. Hill Forts and Headaches race report. January 1, 2017. January 1, 2017. What better to start the year than a 3 mile fell race! When I looked at the route the day before I was slightly surprised that the race was just the uphill and you had to jog or walk the 3 miles back to the start whether you liked it or not! Fear not, the next day was a beautiful day, blue skies, no wind and i didn’t drink the night before. Sounds perfect right? A brief overview of 2016.
