Notes from a Wandering Pom

Notes from a Wandering Pom. Thursday, 30 May 2013. Hi there, all. This is just a quick post to say that I'm home again, and catching up with Blogger and other social media. I'm also catching up with sleep, and laundry and other chores, so it may well take a while before I'm commenting much. Friday, 17 May 2013. Hi there, all. This is just a quick post, to apologise for my increasing absence from blog-land over recent weeks, and also for what's likely to be complete absence over the next ten days or so.

Notes from a Wandering Pom: A Visit To The Doctor

http://www.awanderingpom.blogspot.com/2010/07/visit-to-doctor.html

Notes from a Wandering Pom. Saturday, 17 July 2010. A Visit To The Doctor. Hi there, readers. Thanks to all those who've commented here so far, especially with good wishes for my health. There are some snippets of actual personal news in what follows, so even the Brits might want to read it. The diclofenac is highly effective; since starting on it, I have been mostly pain-free, and a lot more mobile than before, with detectable improvement on quite a few days. Then they will phone me to arrange the appoi...

http://www.awanderingpom.blogspot.com/2010/10/coming-out.html

Notes from a Wandering Pom. Monday, 25 October 2010. Hi there, readers. Before I start, I should thank several people: particularly NewLeaf ( My Travels Out Of The Closet. Who asked me the right question in an e-mail over six months ago, and got as the answer the text that follows; also JSL ( too late for regrets. Whose blog provided the occasion for that question; and various others, most recently Peter ( Love Peter. And Jack ( Confronting the Confused. Who have got bits of the story. Glad you posted th...

Notes from a Wandering Pom: The last light of the sun

http://www.awanderingpom.blogspot.com/2010/10/last-light-of-sun.html

Notes from a Wandering Pom. Saturday, 30 October 2010. The last light of the sun. Hi there, readers. First, many thanks to all those who commented on my last post. I have responded there with some further thoughts of my own, some general and some specific to individual commenters. I picked the (perhaps depressing) title because yesterday was the last day of the year when I can go home from work in daylight. To explain:. British Summer Time (our name for daylight saving time) finishes tonight. For this on...

Notes from a Wandering Pom: Season's greetings

http://www.awanderingpom.blogspot.com/2010/12/seasons-greetings.html

Notes from a Wandering Pom. Friday, 24 December 2010. Hi there, gentle readers. Best wishes of the season to you - whether you celebrate Solstice, Christmas, some other festival, or no festival at all. Having had a vaguely Christian upbringing, and living in a country where Christianity is still the official state religion, Christmas is what I'm used to, even if the original religious aspects are now largely submerged in an orgy of commerce. I think that's it for now - present-wrapping and packing beckon.

A Wandering Pilgrim

Monday, June 16, 2008. Saturday, June 14, 2008. I am, finally here! The salt air is in my lungs, the blue sea in my eyes and I am going to work. This country is both beautiful and ugly. I love it and hate it! Other than that, this country is amazing! I love the people and the surroundings. I could not ask for a better place to be right now. I have been able to visit the pyramids, some museums, the large fortress in Alex and many other things. It has all been so amazing! Tuesday, May 13, 2008. I have been...

About Jason Quinn Malott. The Evolution of Shadows. August 1, 2015. First Saturday Catch-up for August. Been a busy-ish month on the reading front. I’m working through a little backlist on a couple of writers with new books coming out this fall, and starting to work through some debut galleys. By Virginia Pye. A well done, very dark story about missionaries in China in the years after the Boxer Rebellion. She has a new book coming out soon that’s been getting some really good reviews:. However, I do find...

A Wandering Sheep | Just another WordPress.com site

Just another WordPress.com site. The Story Behind It. June 25, 2010. Last week I made Rendang Curry, supposedly an Indonesian dish. I know an Indonesian couple who would invite me and my husband to stay for dinner sometimes, and my husband really likes the cooking. So one day he asked the wife if she could teach me. How to make the dish, and she opened the cabinet and pulled out a pack of sauce. 1 pack of Rendang Curry spice paste. 2 cups of milk. 1 lb of beef, cubed. 3 carrots, skinned and cubed. Why Di...
