The Dragon's Musing: A Short Interlude
http://awmyhr.blogspot.com/2012/01/short-interlude.html
Reflections on RPG's and other games. Monday, January 09, 2012. Program note: D and D Next was announced today. Of course I have thoughts on it. NewbieDM tells me it is obligatory to post these thoughts. This post is not it. That post will come after the initial wave has passed, perhaps in a week or two. For now, we return to Athas. I also dug out of the Athasian timeline (one can be found at http:/ athas.org/events. They did try to force one elemental into another’s quadrant, but I had already de...
The Dragon's Musing: February 2010
http://awmyhr.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Reflections on RPG's and other games. Tuesday, February 23, 2010. This weekend I start playing 4E D&D game with a new group of players, run by the host of The Tome Show. Jeff Greiner. In preparation I have created my character, an 11th-level Goliath Great Weapon Fighter named Vivaki. This is his background:. It wasn't long before he was captured by slavers and sold to a wealthy merchant as a body-guard. Seeing he had a natural affinity for the glaive, he was trained to use the weapon by the best trai...
The Dragon's Musing: September 2011
http://awmyhr.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Reflections on RPG's and other games. Friday, September 09, 2011. Or - How My Party of 5th-Level PCs Killed King Kalak. Chapter Two of our Dark Sun campaign was entitled "Freedom? And encompassed the last two sessions of our twice monthly DnD game. This was a city adventure based loosely, as the name suggests, on the original module "DS1: Freedom". Very loosely. Actually, our game had very little to do with that of the module. This is something I felt unskilled and under qualified to do. The players lear...
The Dragon's Musing: You May Have Heard Me On….

Reflections on RPG's and other games. Monday, October 01, 2012. You May Have Heard Me On…. It seems I've been completely remiss in letting you all know that I have been on a podcast. In fact, I've been on several podcasts. No, not several different podcasts; but several episodes of Jeff Greiner. S The Tome Show. I shall endeavor to be more prompt in keeping you informed in the future, but just to catch you all up, here are the episodes I'm on which have been published so far:. This is my first, and so fa...
The Dragon's Musing: July 2011
http://awmyhr.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Reflections on RPG's and other games. Wednesday, July 27, 2011. The first comabt of the session was very interesting, as it saw not one, not two, but three uses of the brutal weapon breakage rules in the first round of combat. A total of five weapons were broken due to natural 1's being rolled, two by the same character. We also were presented with the question: when one is reduced to bare hands and rolls a 1, do their hands break? So how did I pull this off? Next up is "Chapter Two: Freedom? Perhaps the...

Thursday, October 05, 2006. Time to be serious. Well This blog is dead. Why? I won't finish my last class until about 2 or 3 weeks after my 30th birthday. I won't get my diploma until 6-8 weeks after that. I still have neither the energy nor content to make something of it. So What does that mean? Posted by Adam Myhr at 11:52 AM. Links to this post. Thursday, January 19, 2006. I have finished another class at the University of Phoenix Online. This one was a 300 level networking class called Network and Telecommunications Concepts. It wasn't my type of thing really, I'm basically an application/os layer guy when it comes to computing. It did have some level of interest though, and will probably eventually help me in my programming while definitely helping me in my current network administration job. Posted by Adam Myhr at 9:47 AM. Monday, February 20, 2006. Time, oh how it flies. So, what shall I write about today? I think I should figure out something to add to the other blog I am a co-author on, the what did you learn today. Blog today but rather that I really should write something in the other one. I'll have to get back to work for now and re-visit this later after some thought. Posted by Adam Myhr at 8:39 AM. Thursday, November 17, 2005. Not a bad week. In the last week or two I have received two " Hollywood movie money. Gift certificates in the mail for one free movie each, had a Weber portable charcoal grill. Delivered to my door to be discovered two days later, and saw Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The night before it came out. The downside is of course that we have a small portable grill. Already, but the prize one appears better, or worth more at least. On a more practical front we've talked to th...

Saturday, March 18, 2006. Wow With those networking classes over I am actually pretty happy. I am in the second week of the UNIX class I have to take, which is really more of an introduction to the concept that UNIX can be used in business or some such thing. After all is said and done I imagine I'll still be a windows guy because in addition to all the above, I like gaming. I admit there are games available for Linux, but the majority are still for PC, and moving forward also for consoles. Another casua...

Monday, October 31, 2005. I like Half-Life 2. The first one was a little annoying as it became a bit of a platform jumper near the end, but the second one never seemed to get just plain annoying to me. Recently, a couple days ago in fact, Valve released the HDR tech demo "Lost Coast" which happens to be set in the Half-Life universe. (I have previously talked about this move here. I played through the game part in about 15 minutes. This included spending some time just admiring the view I may add. They p...

Wednesday, June 14, 2006. What is it about blogging? Why is it so hard to keep up? Why is it difficult to think of a focus? Does it really accomplish anything for the average person? I'm not going to pretend to have any answers for any of these questions. I am going to say that I like the idea of publishing a blog/personal website. I think the problem is that my life right now is relatively boring. Posted by Adam Myhr at 9:02 AM. Links to this post. After four years in the Navy as a submariner it still t...

Monday, May 01, 2006. Another casualty in the Blogosphere? I'd like to think not. I just might be though. I haven't updated in over a month, almost two now. I have two saved posts that are nothing more than a brief topic synopsis for me to expand on. I have no plans to join MySpace. Anytime soon - but maybe that's a sub-culture of the Blogosphere. And therefore not an issue. Posted by Adam Myhr at 1:05 PM. Links to this post. Elk River, Minnesota, United States. View my complete profile. Not a bad week.

http://ceridianmn.blogspot.com/2005_12_01_archive.html
Monday, December 05, 2005. I really can't say much, but. It has been over a month since my older brother updated his blog. I have been the high side of two weeks. I had meant to update it last week but didn't finish my project, and then this weekend was horrid. Anyhow, my project. Nothing much this time. I finally made an Amazon.com wishlist. That's it. Search for my name on Amazon and you'll get my wishlist. Posted by Adam Myhr at 10:31 AM. Links to this post. Elk River, Minnesota, United States.

Thursday, September 22, 2005. Half-Life 2, Source, Steam, Valve. There seem to be a lot of people confused by the fact that Valve is releasing two separate things for HL2 this fall. Why are they doing this? What does this mean for the future of Valve, Source, Steam, and HL2? Most of the reference material for this post was the. Interview with Gabe Newell. Very good listen/read. When Twitter is too short, and Facebook is too personal, there is Tumblr. So that happened. Today. The big “Four-Oh” as they say. If one views the normal human life-expectancy as 80 years (with anything after that being the bonus round), then that puts me at mid-life. As anyone whose had a birthday secretly knows, I don’t actually * feel. Any older then I did yesterday. But as I look back 10, 15, twenty years, yeah, those years start to weigh on one. Of the Tome Show Book Club episodes this year, with pl...
The Dragon's Cocoa | RPG Programs & Tools for Cocoa Devices
The Dragon's Cocoa. Seven Inches of Non-Stop Soul. Ah the rumor mill, gotta love it. Or not. Guess it’s a personal preference thing. Latest I heard is that Apple is now “forced” to make a 7-inch tablet. Because, you know, Apple is well known for following market trends and filling every conceivable gap. I mean, come-on, Samsung alone has at least 10 different sized devices from 4-inches to 10.1-inches. Apple has got to compete with that by having similar offerings, right? Your average consumer doesn̵...
