Axfords visit to South Africa - December. Visit to SA. After 10 years away, we returned to SA to see all our friends and family. Starting out in Durban, we then visited Pitermaritzburg and Eshowe. Travelled to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe and then drove to Cape Town with the van Heerdens and finally up to Joburg for Christmas and New Year. See some of our pics here. We left South Africa on the 17th March 2003 for our big adventure. After a week in Sydney we travelled north to Newcastle (about 2 hours drive) and settled in little town close to the city. Dad's spot on the hill. 18 March, 2014. 04 May, 2012. We all had fun at Joy's 80th Birthday in Napier this past month. All the kids turned up. Bernard gave a very nice talk, including about how he met mom, and the Facebook community marvelled afterwards at how young she looks! Joy, Elizabeth and Josephine, Alexander, Bryony, and even Robyn gave us some fabulous musical performances. At this rate I think a 90th Birthday is an easy prediction!
