Just another WordPress.com site. A Year of Bacon. Once Upon a Time…. Have you ever won a contest? Back in December I entered a contest by Applegate Farms. All I had to do was post my best brunch tip. For me, this was a great exercise since:. A Although I’ve participated in many brunches in the past, I’ve never actually hosted a brunch. B I write fiction. So I thought about what I would do if I was to give a brunch. This is what I came up with:. Dear Readers I WON. A YEAR OF BACON! How can you eat a year ...

Just another WordPress.com site. A Year of Bacon. Another bit of bacon. After two weeks of absolutely craziness filled with tornadoes, water damage and property taxes, I was more than happy to tuck into the next bacon creation. Trust Me...I'm a Writer: August 2012
http://dottienderle.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
Trust Me.I'm a Writer. Monday, August 6, 2012. It’s been about 3 weeks since I last blogged. I never meant to go that long between posts, but I knew I’d be writing 6 more Ghost Detectors books so I spent every extra moment finishing up the novel I started this spring. As you may remember (if not click here. I began crafting a wreath to mark my writing progress. Then I set up these rules for myself:. Only add a ribbon for 650 or more words a day. Only add a ribbon for fresh work. Not revision. Cynsational...
Trust Me...I'm a Writer: January 2012
http://dottienderle.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Trust Me.I'm a Writer. Tuesday, January 31, 2012. This is not an ad.it's a shout out. I’ve published with a lot of great houses, each one offering a different experience. But one of those publishers stands out as unique. Flashlight Press. 8211; the smallest house I’ve worked with. In 2007 they published Grandpa for Sale. A collaborative work between my good friend, Vicki Sansum and myself. (Writing it together is another blog post for another day.). By Amanda Noll, illustrated by Howard McWilliam. What I...

http://dottienderle.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Trust Me.I'm a Writer. Tuesday, June 26, 2012. I like to think I’m pretty good at writing description, even though I use it sparingly in my books. I don’t like reading a lot of it, so I don’t write a lot of it. I put in just enough to spark an image in the reader's mind. Some people prefer reading a mile-long paragraph describing a character’s dress. Not me. But I do want to see. If you remember from a few controversial blog posts. And I'm confident that these are just the beginning. First, here’s ...
Trust Me...I'm a Writer: July 2012
http://dottienderle.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Trust Me.I'm a Writer. Tuesday, July 10, 2012. I probably shouldn’t blog on days that I’m sad. It has a potential for disaster. But I’ll put it out there anyway. Here’s what happened today. Someone I cared about passed away, I received a rejection, and I added over 1000 words to my humorous YA WIP. The words I added weren’t necessarily funny, but in time, I can punch them up. Getting a rejection on a day I learn of a friend’s death has me questioning my own writing and mortality. Is there enough time?

Trust Me...I'm a Writer: AIM FOR THE MOON
http://dottienderle.blogspot.com/2012/06/aim-for-moon.html
Trust Me.I'm a Writer. Friday, June 1, 2012. AIM FOR THE MOON. I’ve been a moongazer all my life. Yes, even when I thought it was made of green cheese. That’s what led me to write my 2008 novel, Man in the Moon. That book was so much fun to write, especially my choice of breaking the chapters into phases of the moon. It makes me sad that Delacorte didn’t indicate the paranormal aspects in their rather blasé. Jacket blurb. When is the moon not magical? OK, why am I telling you all this? Http:/ donasdays&#...

Trust Me.I'm a Writer. Monday, April 23, 2012. Sightseeing Is Like Writing. I went to Washington DC this past weekend. The occasion was my daughter's Swearing in Ceremony with the Department of State. Needless to say, we were proud and excited. But there was something else we did there. A lot of walking! And everything I do I relate to writing in some way. Steps Lots of them. Huff your way up and you're wishing Abe would offer you his seat. One thing that really stood out in DC was all the scaffolding...
Trust Me...I'm a Writer: I Need a Tag!
http://dottienderle.blogspot.com/2012/03/i-need-tag.html
Trust Me.I'm a Writer. Tuesday, March 13, 2012. I Need a Tag! Dialogue tags. Yeah, we’re supposed to avoid them - start with an action instead. But your character can only scratch her nose or flip her hair so many times. Said is preferred. It's barely noticeable. But after too many, you'll notice. Could it be you need something with punch? For example: What did the agitated character do? Got one of those annoying sarcastic characters? Here are a few of my favorites:. And my ultimate favorite: *drumroll*.

We don’t even have Walmart in Brooklyn (she says pretending that Target isn’t essentially Walmart’s first cousin). Why can’t we at least make the ones we sell within our own borders? Cups also come in packs of two and are made from the same recycled milk jug plastic that my daughter’s Green Toys. We’re still using...

Daily Affirmations
August 24, 2010. I wore this dumb outfit today and felt dumb all day and then proceeded to eat 2 sugar cookies, a chocolate chip cookie dough cookie, a brownie bite and a cafe rio pork tostada. UGH. I'm running tonight. April 4, 2009. Staying up until 5am, not the best idea. But I did find this little gem. I had forgotten about. I was having a kinda sad day. I went to a movie by myself, which didn't seem to help until this trailer came on. It's SO ridiculous that it made me smile. View my complete profile.
