I submitted and defended my PhD dissertation, and had a blast doing it. I landed a prestigious postdoc position in a new field I was interested in. I gave the commencement address for the Graduate. School - a lifelong dream of mine. And I was pregnant with my first kid, a boy, due that summer. It was a good year. I had always wanted to be a professor.
