random musings: wow. kind of intense.
http://shinelikestars.blogspot.com/2008/10/wow-kind-of-intense.html
Thursday, October 02, 2008. Wow kind of intense. I just tried to make some oven-baked french fry-ish sort of potatoes. Did not go so well. Perhaps it is a message from the Lord about my possibly excessive love of potatoes. I turned on the oven to preheat while I peeled and sliced potatoes. As I finished, I realized it smelled funny in the kitchen. I opened the oven door to see what the deal was and there were FLAMES, like actual firey flames, in my oven. I think I yelled, "OH BALLS! Oh, uh, wow! And I am...

Life is always a journey with Lisa.: Ordination
http://lisaholmlund.blogspot.com/2009/06/ordination.html
Life is always a journey with Lisa. Tuesday, June 30, 2009. I am sitting in my office on this first day back to work after I have now been ordained. I found the article that shared about my ordination service. I am posting it here so I don't forget about it. One of the highlights for me was having my dad be the one to pray over me during the service. You can see us together in the third picture below that was on the Covenant Website. Novak: We Need ‘Culture of Conversation’ About Jesus. Following Paul...

Mike's Adventures: December 2008
http://mikewaring.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
Wednesday, December 24, 2008. Thought I would post about a recent Ski Trip. Where is this winter you may ask.in my front yard! After shoveling the snow off the sidewalk for several days of snow fall, it piled up to my waist. This is at 200ft above sea level. Even got some downhill skiing off Salmonberry street the other day. Long walk up. Enjoy the photos and Merry Christmas. Note the snow level compared to my F250. Gives some perspective. A different view of my neighbors cars buried. This time last year...

Mike's Adventures: September 2013
http://mikewaring.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
Sunday, September 15, 2013. Star Crossed Cyclocross Cat 4/5. The weather was super warm for Seattle Cyclocross, around 70 with higher than normal humidity. Walking from the parking lot, all you could see is a few riders and a cloud of dust rising up. This is the first corner 200 meters into the course. Imagine 240 people all taking this corner.it was a mess, but that is why it is called Cyclocross. At least it wasn't pouring rain and super slick. As I was 2 mins into lap 5 I heard the announcer say the l...

Mike's Adventures: July 2009
http://mikewaring.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html
Monday, July 13, 2009. Costa Rica-Day 3 part 2. As we were hiking, this was part of the beautiful country we enjoyed. The further we went the mountains, trees, valleys and mountains were breathtaking. Below is a shot of our trail as we went further into the jungle. The roads got smaller, muddier, the bugs came out, the bugs and birds got louder and louder. As we were walking a Tucan fly by and into a tree. The shot below is from 100meters with a 300mm lens. Give it up for RAW format for croping. The vall...

Mike's Adventures: March 2009
http://mikewaring.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
Saturday, March 28, 2009. Costa Rica Manuel Antonio Part 2. The adventure continues. I do believe this is the day the Montezuma oro Pendula began taunting me. This bird by the end of the trip became my photography adversary. Showing itself only long enough for me to scramble with a camera, only to fly away out of range or behind a branch. We hiked up to a vista and had a gorgeous panorama of the area. The beaches below are where La Playa de Puerto Escondido (Puerto Escondido beach) is located. A couple o...

http://mikewaring.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Sunday, January 25, 2009. Gemini Bridges-Golden Spike-Poison Spider. Below is the last day of the Moab. Trip photos. Our 17.5 mile day grew to 33.5 when one member of the group got fed up of the hike-a-bike sections of the golden spike to portal trail and decided to go down into poison. Spider greatly increasing out day. This is a panorama photo. Note there are two pictures of me in this photo. Kind of weird. Here is the group going over the gemini. Bridges. Really cool arch. Tire that had to get a tube.
