Backpacker and a Camera

Backpacker and a Camera. Crete with Nowhere to Stay. January 8, 2012. The ferry got to Crete around 5:30 AM, much earlier than I we had expected. Crete was the leg of our trip that we had planned the least. All we knew was that we had a rental car waiting to be picked up for 9:00 AM. We didn’t even have a place to stay yet. Chania's Old Venetian Port. Me and out D-class car. The Minoan ruins of Knossos. Sunset on our first day in Crete. Istanbul, Crete, Athens. From Istanbul To Crete. December 3, 2011.

Sultanahmet | Backpacker and a Camera

https://backpackerandcamera.wordpress.com/2011/10/24/sultanahmet

Backpacker and a Camera. Istanbul, Crete, Athens. October 24, 2011. The natural first thing to do in any city on our first day there is to check out the top tourist attractions. Especially if they are right near the hostel. We spent this first full day in Istanbul in the Sultanahmet, the main historic (and tourist) area of Istanbul. And it was already incredibly hot even at 9:00 AM. Irene all covered up. Photos related to this post. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. You are commenting ...

Troy | Backpacker and a Camera

https://backpackerandcamera.wordpress.com/2011/10/30/troy

Backpacker and a Camera. Istanbul, Crete, Athens. October 30, 2011. With only five days in country, we knew it was impractical to see much more of Turkey than that. But we knew we had to get out of the city on at least one day-trip, so we decided to go and see the ruins of Troy. The shore of Europe, as we ferry across to Asia. And put us in a car with a driver who spoke no English and sent us on our way. The mandatory photo op at Troy. The ruins of Troy. Haggling Up A Storm ». Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

Backpacker and a Camera. September 14, 2011. Where Switzerland was born. One of the paddle-steamers on Lake Lucerne. Irene cooled our feet in the frigid waters of Lake Lucerne while we waited for Dad and Wendy, and then took the boat back across to where we’d left the car. We were slightly disappointed when we didn’t get one of the two classic paddle-steamer boats that still run on the route, but we did get to see one up close as it pulled away from our destination. Haggling Up A Storm | Backpacker and a Camera

https://backpackerandcamera.wordpress.com/2011/11/06/haggling

Backpacker and a Camera. Istanbul, Crete, Athens. Haggling Up A Storm. November 6, 2011. After our long day going to see Troy, we had another full day in Istanbul to see the rest of the main tourist attractions. We started out by going to see the Basilica Cistern, an attraction that’s easy to miss as it’s located underground with just a small building to mark its location. From Russia With Love. The Basilica Cistern, at its most beautiful. I felt pretty awesome for pulling that one off. Haggling in the G...
