Nothing much else to report. Nothing has broken yet! Its warm, sunny, peaceful and Im enjoying being out sailing again. Day 9: arri...

One foot in Seattle, one toe in a Pacific Seacraft 37. Where will that toe go? Saturday, August 16, 2014. It seems that I've mentioned Niue twice now, but haven't really blogged about my stay there. This is that post. Ok Back to Niue. There are great opportunities to stretch your legs here. You can easily rent bicycles, motorcycles or cars - I opted for a bicycle. The local roads are in good shape and they are often shaded by trees as you pass through forested areas. As you ride along the coa...The islan...

On Sabbatical: Summer Afloat in British Columbia
http://sabbatical-voyage.blogspot.com/2011/08/summer-in-british-columbia.html
This blog describes the voyages of S/V Sabbatical, a Mason 33 sloop. The captain, Bill Thompson, began this blog in 2009 when he was "on sabbatical" from UC Irvine. Bill's first (and only) mate is his wife Claudia. You can follow their voyages here. Sunday, August 21, 2011. Summer Afloat in British Columbia. I made it back to Nanaimo on June 14. Claudia arrived two days later. Were anchored in Gorge Harbor on Cortez Island. So we headed there. While I was figuring this out, the tidal current was moving u...

s/v Luckness: Arrival in Tonga
http://svluckness.blogspot.com/2015/05/arrival-in-tonga.html
One foot in Seattle, one toe in a Pacific Seacraft 37. Where will that toe go? Wednesday, May 27, 2015. The passage went well. This is something most people say as a way of getting the "how's it going? Question out of the way. Ask most cruisers "How did your passage go? Just after they finished, and most will say "it went really well! May 28, 2015 at 9:56 AM. Life is good indeed. Good of you to share a bit of reality into the ideal dream! One foot in Seattle, one toe in a Pacific Seacraft 37. Where will that toe go? Wednesday, October 29, 2014. Tonga Part 2 and onward. I was preparing to leave a little over a week ago, but watching the weather systems develop I didnt like the look of the weather window that was opening, and so skipped that one and have been waiting to see what the next one looked like. I like the look of this next weather window, and will make the final call on it tomorrow morning to either stay or go. Watts = Volts x Amps.

One foot in Seattle, one toe in a Pacific Seacraft 37. Where will that toe go? Tuesday, April 14, 2015. What I did on my summer vacation. I've been in New Zealand for over five months now. I like it here! In my last blog posting, in December of last year, at one point I said:. I've only been to a few of the anchorages now, but it is a beautiful, easy area and I think I'll be here for several months, at least.". I've been wondering a little to myself "what is cruising anyway? Am I still doing it? The app ...

One foot in Seattle, one toe in a Pacific Seacraft 37. Where will that toe go? Sunday, July 27, 2014. I also saw a few Sting Ray's, and still think they're the cutest things ever, aside from dolphins of course. Although these ones seem to hold their stinger in the Ready position, perhaps a little more wild than those in Moorea. Deeply buried anchor and chain. My Rocna was deeply buried here, which is very good to see. I spent much of my time here working on a little software project I had put off for a w...

s/v Luckness: Day 9: arrived in North Minerva
http://svluckness.blogspot.com/2015/05/day-9-arrived-in-north-minerva.html
One foot in Seattle, one toe in a Pacific Seacraft 37. Where will that toe go? Sunday, May 17, 2015. Day 9: arrived in North Minerva. Date: May 18, 2015. 23° 39.695 S 178° 55.027 W. Water Temp: 73.4. Im anchored on the south side of North Minerva Reef. Yay. There is a fringing sand shelf, however unlike Beveridge, it doesnt look like you can anchor on the shelf. The guide I has talks about the shelf being a thin layer of sand on coral and from what I see, I agree with that. May 19, 2015 at 7:50 AM. Day 7...
