Baking & Blogging

Thursday, December 17, 2009. If you are, you should note, this blog is being "shut down" to make way for something new and exciting: http:/ middlebrookfamily.blogspot.com/. A new blog for a new start. I'll be focusing a bit more on what you guys probably care about and a little less on cooking. Don't worry, I'll still share recipes. In fact, I have dedicated a whole new home to those I've already collected while writing this blog: http:/ sites.google.com/site/middlebrookcook/. Sunday, October 25, 2009.

Baking & Blogging: Chocolate Love Cake

http://bakingandblogging.blogspot.com/2007/06/nothing-says-love-like-chocolate.html

Friday, June 1, 2007. I felt it was appropriate to start my blogging with my absolute favorite recipe. Everytime I make this cake it is a HUGE crowd pleaser. Something in the texture and richness of flavor speaks to the eater, lulling them to believe the baker loves them and believes they deserve richness of life. BTW: The cookbook this recipe comes from is my FAVORITE cookbook. Hopefully I'll have the opportunity to share more, but I encourage anyone who likes to cook to get their own copy. 8 tablespoon...

Baking & Blogging: It's getting cold---- YAYAY!!!

http://bakingandblogging.blogspot.com/2009/10/its-getting-cold-yayay.html

Saturday, October 24, 2009. It's getting cold- - YAYAY! It might seem odd at first, but if I was asked what my favorite-can't-live-without kitchen tool was I'd have to say my laptop. I try to keep all of my favorite recipes on here, use google way too often for recipe substitutions and measurement conversions, and watch hulu while cooking. In preparation for making chili tonight I opened up my blog to get the recipe (they're all on the sidebar! And was shocked that I had never posted about this! You sold...

Baking & Blogging: Tantrum Central

http://bakingandblogging.blogspot.com/2009/10/tantrum-central.html

Sunday, October 25, 2009. 2/3 of our house have spent the day in a state of irritability. I won't mention names, but Thomas sure does deserve a good night's sleep. My fridge is currently stocked with leftovers from yesterday's chili and today's chicken peanut chow mein ( it was yummy, see recipe below! It'll probably be next week before I'm able to try out this experiment, but I'll let you all know how it goes! Leave a comment if you've ever used a similar service. 1 tablespoon dark sesame oil, divided.

Baking & Blogging: October 2007

http://bakingandblogging.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html

Tuesday, October 16, 2007. Cough, cough :(. Don't be fooled, this is a rare moment of affection for one another. I finally feel that my life is starting to ease into a pattern again. Work is at a good steady pace, my first big school are done, I'm finding time to hang out with Anna, Kellie and a few other people here and there (goodbye months of hermit behavior! And my house is being cleaned on a regular basis :). So what's the first thing I do? I pay in cookies :). Marinated Flank Steak Sandwiches:.

Baking & Blogging: Blueberry Scones and Birthday Presents

http://bakingandblogging.blogspot.com/2009/05/blueberry-scones-and-birthday-presents.html

Monday, May 4, 2009. Blueberry Scones and Birthday Presents. So this is the time I would normally post my weekly menu (ok, ok, if I actually POSTED it when I created it)- but instead, I have been cleaning out flower gardens, sorting baby clothes to be passed on, updating the recipe index on this blog and tending to a runny nose. Last week's menu had a bit of a change- Friday night instead of breakfast we had burgers. Why? Because my lovely hubby got me a grill for my birthday! As a Christmas present....

Friday, November 16, 2012. Coffee and Other Challenges. Hidy-Ho, cherished readers! Well, it's been LESS than a week (up top! Amazing, is how! I have three French presses in varying sizes now. June 3, 2013. Super Macro-friendly Insanely Delicious Banana bread. This is one of my most favorite recipes ever. Its super versatile to meet various dietary needs and always turns out great! I always try to take classic recipes and tweak them to make them a more “macro friendly” and sometimes it works rather well and other times it is an epic fail! Well today’s banana bread was a success! This bread is plenty sweet and the people I made it for could not believe it did not have the usual “sugar&#82...

Baking and Bobbins with Robin – Let's do something fun today!

Baking and Bobbins with Robin. Other Desserts and Treats. Rosetta’s House Quilt. After getting an embroidery machine last Christmas, I was determined to make a quilt with a Bible verse on it. In my stash was some Robert Kaufman fabric that has rows of houses in it, so it was not exactly a leap to use the verse from Joshua which says…. Fall Scarecrow Table Runner. Double Irish Chain Quilt with Celtic Knot Quilting. This one goes out to Amanda, my former pharmacy technician, who was always on the hunt for ...

Baking and Bows

Thursday, December 6, 2012. I've been trying to find chooks not from a hatchery for a very long time, I wanted chooks who I could be sure were bred and raised nicely. Not on a huge scale. I finally found a lady locally who breeds chooks on a small scale, so I bought two 10 week old Rhode Island Red x Sussex hens from her, Dixie and Marceline. So in another 10 weeks I should have eggs!
