Brenda and Cam's BC Adventure. Friday, February 06, 2009. The Big Trip - Toad River to William A. Switzer Provincial Park. Greetings at Toad River Lodge. 2915 km - We're having a pleasant drive on Hwy. 97, we've seen six more sheep, a black bear, and some deer. We also made a pit stop at Toad River and had some scrumptious cookies. That'll be close enough, thanks. Bears are best from a safe distance. 3004 km - Foiled! What more could you want in a store? Stay classy, Fort Nelson. 3521 km - Weeeeee! We ar...

Brenda and Cam's BC Adventure: August 2007

http://bandcinbc.blogspot.com/2007_08_01_archive.html

Brenda and Cam's BC Adventure. Saturday, August 11, 2007. Imagine this scene - it is the August long weekend, you are in Victoria and a miracle happens. the Sun finally makes a weekend appearance! What would you do? We started by going to the beach (seemed like a logical place to start). Soaking up the rays. Blinded by the light. We packed up the car and set off up Hwy 1. Viewpoint off Hwy 1. Looking out at Brentwood Bay. Salt Spring Island in the distance. That is until I looked in the rearview mirror a...

Brenda and Cam's BC Adventure: The Big Trip - Vanderhoof to Meziadin Lake

http://bandcinbc.blogspot.com/2008/12/big-trip-vanderhoof-to-meziadin-lake.html

Brenda and Cam's BC Adventure. Wednesday, December 17, 2008. The Big Trip - Vanderhoof to Meziadin Lake. 1005 km - Day 4 and we have just entered Vanderhoof, "The Geographical Centre of BC.". 1145 km - We just stopped for a quick lunch in Burns Lake. Burns Lake also lays claim to being the geographical centre of BC. Driving through all these small towns is a lot like driving through Northern Ontario. Why is it okay to leave rusted out cars, buses and tractors on your lawn? World's biggest Fly Rod! We wer...

Brenda and Cam's BC Adventure: The Big Trip - Bear Glacier to Dease Lake

http://bandcinbc.blogspot.com/2008/12/big-trip-bear-glacier-to-dease-lake.html

Brenda and Cam's BC Adventure. Thursday, December 18, 2008. The Big Trip - Bear Glacier to Dease Lake. Bear Glacier cutting through the valley. And emptying into Strohn. 1702 km - Stewart, BC and we have just now reached gas more expensive than Victoria at $1.40/L. The paved road ends at the border. Good advice while in the Tongass National Forest. This pylon is all that marks this particular border crossing. Easily the least intense American border crossing we've ever been a part of. 1926 km - Ouch!

Brenda and Cam's BC Adventure: July 2007

http://bandcinbc.blogspot.com/2007_07_01_archive.html

Brenda and Cam's BC Adventure. Monday, July 23, 2007. Adam Cole (Part 2). Brenda and her Vodka Cran. Crazy drinks, as seen from table level. We went out to the Reef to meet up with Sophia and Josh and for Sophia's birthday celebrations. Happy Birthday Sophia, hope you enjoyed it and had a lesser hangover than us. Sampling the Johnny Cakes at the Reef. Brenda strikes a pose on a bridge over the Sombrio River. Trees are tall here even when they're sideways. I'm the king of the rock . . . Adam Cole (Part 1).

Brenda and Cam's BC Adventure: The Big Trip: Boya Lake to Muncho Lake

http://bandcinbc.blogspot.com/2009/01/big-trip-boya-lake-to-muncho-lake.html

Brenda and Cam's BC Adventure. Thursday, January 08, 2009. The Big Trip: Boya Lake to Muncho Lake. 2334 km - Not much to see on the road today. We did see a fox, and the welcome sign to Dease Nutz . . . I mean Dease Lake was pretty awesome. We're just leaving Boya Lake P.P. now. It is a gorgeous spot, the water is coloured like Lake Louise and it is surrounded by thousands of trees and some mountains. Technically leaving BC for the third time on the trip . . . This time for the Yukon. And it is gorgeous.

Nomadic Adventures in Town Planning: July 2007

http://pwetter.blogspot.com/2007_07_01_archive.html

Nomadic Adventures in Town Planning. Monday, July 23, 2007. Originally, I had planned to head to. However, travelling through Western Europe just seemed too easy especially after. And I decided to head to Mostar in. Her and I had been running into each other continuously from Hvar to Korcula to Durbrovnik. Well, we decided to hop in the van. Fortunately, it was the real deal and we were not taken to some secluded area and beaten to death. All the people I had met were incredibly interesting. Mike and...

Nomadic Adventures in Town Planning: April 2007

http://pwetter.blogspot.com/2007_04_01_archive.html

Nomadic Adventures in Town Planning. Monday, April 09, 2007. I am now back in. It has been quite the adventurous 7 months. I was able to complete my project and take in 9 out of the 10 regions in. Met some wonderful people along the way too. All this with two or three bouts of malaria. Oh yes, I am all better, so no worries. So, here is a summary of the rest of my adventures along with my first impressions of coming home. On December 22, I go to Sam’s house in Konongo with my bag. I noticed that some...

Nomadic Adventures in Town Planning. Sunday, October 08, 2006. When You Are Sitting Around Bored at a Hotel on Thanksgiving. No, they do not celebrate Thanksgiving here. But I have good news! I went to the doctor last Friday for a blood test and the results are in: No more malaria! The doctor wants me to stay till Monday (tomorrow) so he can make sure I am on the mend. I guess it will take a few weeks before I am all better. Transportation in Ghana is surprisingly cheap and effective. You can get to ...

Nomadic Adventures in Town Planning: May 2007

http://pwetter.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html

Nomadic Adventures in Town Planning. Wednesday, May 30, 2007. The night I arrived I met some friendly Germans. They invited me on a hike the next day which was fantastic. There lots of views into the surrounding valleys. At the highest point we had lunch and there was a group holding church. We ending up going for some applestruddle afterwards. I would like to say that Germans are really friendly. There was of course the example above. Another is the first day I arrived in Munich and was taking t...I als...

Nomadic Adventures in Town Planning: April 2008

http://pwetter.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html

Nomadic Adventures in Town Planning. Sunday, April 27, 2008. It has been a while since I have written here. Well, the latest adventure was to. To visit my sister and brother-in-law who are living there. As soon as I get off the plane the smell suddenly brings me back to. A fragrant smell that is a mix of flowers, moisture, incense, Chinese food, and sewer. Anne Marie and Tom met us at the station and took us to their apartment. It is a small but decent one bedroom in the 8. Slender which allowed for ligh...

Nomadic Adventures in Town Planning: June 2007

http://pwetter.blogspot.com/2007_06_01_archive.html

Nomadic Adventures in Town Planning. Tuesday, June 26, 2007. In the evening I had a fish dish. When they brought it out I suddenly thought I was in Ghana. There was this blob of potatoes in the middle of the plate, fish on the side, with sort of a soap/sauce poured over it. Fortunately, it tasted a lot better than fufu. The local white wine was also nice. Posted by Nomadic Adventures in Town Planning at 1:39 AM. Went to the Island of Hvar and stayed at the town of the same name. The town was absolute...

Nomadic Adventures in Town Planning. Friday, November 03, 2006. Bruni gets a Haircut. This has been a long time coming. I have been playing catch up every since I returned from Accra. As to my health, since everyone asks, I do get tired once in a while but I am feeling much, much better. Hopefully, in the next week or so, things will be back to normal. By the way, thanks mom and dad, Anne Marie and Tom, and Aunt Lilli and Uncle Paul for the postcard. ACCRA TO KONOGO BUS RIDE. The doctor recommended that ...

Nomadic Adventures in Town Planning. Sunday, December 17, 2006. Merry Christmas from the Bruni. Merry Christmas from the Bruni. So, much for writing an entry every few weeks. It has been crazy busy the past month or so. Lots of travelling and work. I have been trying to get this development plan finished so I can move on to doing some physical planning. Nomadic Adventures in Town Planning. Sunday, September 03, 2006. Yes, I have arrived safe and sound to the land of crisps, trousers, loos, lifts, birds, and blokes. So far, so good. I spent the first night at the London Backpacker hostel north of central London. Nice place to recharge but to far from the centre and I didn't really meet very many interesting people there.
