Barbara Shelton: Silver Pulls

http://barbarashelton.blogspot.com/2010/04/silver-pulls.html

Friday, April 23, 2010. After meeting with Erin Dolman. About the silver, she advised me that the gauge of the wire we would have to use to keep with the scale of the cabinet would be too thin for practical use. So we came up with another design, keeping lightness of it and the shape of the Sycamore keys that I wanted. With the silver and brass pieces glued together with hot glue, a hole is drilled for the pin that the silver pull will pivot on. The pieces were then separated by soaking in acetone. It wa...

Barbara Shelton: Too Long

http://barbarashelton.blogspot.com/2010/11/too-long.html

Saturday, November 13, 2010. Here are some shots of the machines in the basement so far:. We found this old Beaver drill press on Craig's List.actually Junior found it and we beat him to it. Sorry Junior. It is in great shape, previously owned by a young metalworker who had three of various sizes. Yellow lettering.in case we forget what it is. I guess Michal likes his fingers or something, he was dead set on getting a Stop Saw. We got to see the demo done in the store with a smokie. Pretty crazy! Yup the...

Barbara Shelton: No More Excuses...

http://barbarashelton.blogspot.com/2012/01/no-more-excuses.html

Friday, January 20, 2012. Except for being trapped behind a computer all day to generate the funds to be able to set up shop. Amazing how draining a desk job can be. There are issues letting go of off-cuts, even other people's. We were the benefactors of a friend's recent move to the opposite coast. A pile of local maple. More adopted wood and future kiln site. After so much time going by, rough milling some wood to make sawhorses was super exciting, and the more time I spend here the more my hands start...

Barbara Shelton: March 2010

http://barbarashelton.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html

Wednesday, March 24, 2010. The stand has been started now and was going relatively quick. As soon as I started to sense some real progress happening, I came down with a nasty cold and haven't been able to work on it for three weeks. Here it is so far:. The very first rough mock up, just to get the height and proportions right. The cabinet will be seated into the tops of the legs and be attached with brackets to two stretchers from underneath. Had to spend a bit of time straightening the grain in the Kwila.

Ian Crosby: November 2009

http://iancrosby.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html

Fine Works in Wood. Sunday, November 1, 2009. Hallowe'en and Cliff Gilker Park. Hallowe'en brought a visit from a cute little lady bug! And a monkey too! Steve looks like he was amused.even if they weren't! Today we went for a walk in CLiff Gilker park, just across the highway. Our neighbour showed us the beautiful trails that wind through the trees and cross over numerous creeks and rivers. The drawer, dryfit, awaiting glue, a bottom and then on to being fit in the cabinet. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

http://iancrosby.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html

Fine Works in Wood. Sunday, January 31, 2010. We have now all returned from the good ol' US of A and what a trip it was! Don, Meredith, Robert, Steve N. and Roberta during a Masur Birch log and Pear plank search. Jason and Byron atop a pile of Pear planks that were 3 inches thick and in the $1000 a plank range, which as you can tell, was shocking to Byron. Surf's up for Evan as he scopes out a big pile of? This was the smaller half of the Claro Walnut log we looked at. Wednesday, January 27, 2010. So whe...

Fine Works in Wood. Monday, May 23, 2011. From Joinery to the Creek: The Lost Tale of a Family of Chairs. All the parts needed for six arm chairs. Nice fitting tenon. I went as close as possible off of the machine this time. I figured better to spend an extra half hour nailing the tenon stock than to spend hours and hours sanding tenons. Tenon stock, before and after round-over bit. Mortises for twin tenons. A pile of joined walnut pieces. Still just rough pieces so no need to care for them yet. One of m...

Ian Crosby: As it happens!

http://iancrosby.blogspot.com/2011/11/as-it-happens.html

Fine Works in Wood. Friday, November 11, 2011. I am loving this blog app. I can stop for 5 minutes, write something and then carry on. This is practically live blogging! If you have yet to try the Festool domino joiner I am going to suggest that you do. Thanks Byron for lending me yours. I might just have to put that in the ol' Christmas list and hope santa's had a good year! I was a bit nervous at first but it does almost seem idiot proof. November 16, 2011 at 4:26:00 PM MST. Saturday, September 12, 2009. Wood arrives in Roberts Creek. The shipment that I purchased for Robert from A&M Lumber arrived at the school. Everyone was pretty excited to see it. Nicholas Nelson: January 2014

Sunday, January 5, 2014. Bremer Cabinet: Picking Up. Hey folks. I'm a bit behind on sharing this project, so I'm going to make basically a photo reel post to catch up! Above we have some cabinet side doweling. Then top and bottom doweling. Once the carcass is dry-fit with some dowels, trim up the back to be flush and flat. Here I'm using my lovely chair-scrape because the cabinet scraper was too clumsy for edge work. Looks like I forgot to take a pic of shaping the top/bottom edges.

Little angels with Grandma Barb. Flowers, flowers, flowers. Monday, September 24, 2007. This thing with the widgets did not work well with me. I could change color but I could not make it work at all. I didn't like widgets before either, so to me they are not worth using. Links to this post. Well, here I am again. I did the newsletter (Pop). It seemed easy enough. And yes, I would probably use this a lot more. If you were making your own website this would be a great tool to use. Links to this post.
