The Barefoot Gardener: February 2014

http://barefootgrdnr.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html

Musings, impressions, poetry, pictures and everything else about my experiences in gardening, especially as I learn about taking it to a new level. Thursday, February 27, 2014. I keep checking the weather forecast, hoping it will change. It does. but for the worst. A few days ago, the lowest low for early next week was 5 degrees F. Now the lowest low is 1 below zero degrees F, with highs in the low to mid-teens. And before that, we'll face rain, freezing drizzle, sleet and snow. Yet I keep checking.

Musings, impressions, poetry, pictures and everything else about my experiences in gardening, especially as I learn about taking it to a new level. Thursday, June 5, 2014. Strawberries, Strawberries, Strawberries. This season's features are "Strawberries, Strawberries, Strawberries," and "Monster Kale.". I prefer whole strawberries to jam, but, who knows? I may make some anyway. The berries are so abundant. This K-State Extension publication. Also has some good info on strawberries. Sandra M. Siebert.

The Barefoot Gardener: Marching In

http://barefootgrdnr.blogspot.com/2015/03/marching-in.html

Musings, impressions, poetry, pictures and everything else about my experiences in gardening, especially as I learn about taking it to a new level. Thursday, March 5, 2015. We turn the calendar to March, and suddenly everything feels different. The air feels softer. The birdsong seems louder. The garden looks more alive, even though nothing has changed since a month ago. Green daffodil blades erupt through the wood chip mulch. But March dawned with intermittent sun that melted much of Saturday's snow&#46...

The Barefoot Gardener: Blooms and Things

http://barefootgrdnr.blogspot.com/2015/03/the-crocus-wither-but-these-lovely-and.html

Musings, impressions, poetry, pictures and everything else about my experiences in gardening, especially as I learn about taking it to a new level. Monday, March 16, 2015. The crocus wither, but these lovely and diminutive Iris reticulata popped their heads out in the last few days. On Friday, the UPS truck drove up our hill bearing apple trees and berry plants, so Friday and Saturday were spent digging holes, soaking peat moss (for the blueberries), and planting, planting, planting. Hi ho, hi ho! It's t...

The Barefoot Gardener: When the Earth Says "Peas"

http://barefootgrdnr.blogspot.com/2015/03/when-earth-says-peas.html

Musings, impressions, poetry, pictures and everything else about my experiences in gardening, especially as I learn about taking it to a new level. Thursday, March 19, 2015. When the Earth Says "Peas". For me, the planting season begins with peas. Oh, sure, I've got broccoli, kale and onion seedlings in little pots started back in January, but peas are the first seeds I stick in the actual garden soil. Long rows of peas, because I could almost live on them when they are in production. Of course, it's imp...

http://greysniperpoet.blogspot.com/2006_08_01_archive.html

Sunday, August 27, 2006. Ok, here's the program that they gave us which had the band information and everything. We came into a standard jazz band, cool. And then they brought out the hippies. they were good, but we really needed to be outside, around a campfire, and sitting in a circle to enjoy it properly. Ahh, the blue grass band, they were awesome! I think that they were the best band there! Posted by greysniperpoet at 5:34 AM. Saturday, August 26, 2006. Can you see it? Wednesday, August 23, 2006.

http://talesfromthetinyholding.blogspot.com/2012/03/worthy-causes-and-armchair-dictating.html

Tales from the Tinyholding. Big ideas from a little garden. Tales and stories of how we make the most of our garden and our terraced house. Thursday, 1 March 2012. I lived just a couple of miles from the sea, and some times I miss it. Tythe barn, Henry's and herb garden. Then there are the gardens. The first building to be reconstructe...

Tales from the Tinyholding. Big ideas from a little garden. Tales and stories of how we make the most of our garden and our terraced house. Christmas at the tinyholding. This is the first year we, as a family, have spent Christmas together at the tinyholding. I can't deny it, I am very excited. We have so many traditions to carry through and so many to start. Squirreling away wrapped gifts and surprises. All accompanied by the rich scent of mulled wine, mince pies and Christmas oils. Chickens, Ducks, her...

Tales from the Tinyholding. Big ideas from a little garden. Tales and stories of how we make the most of our garden and our terraced house. Thursday, 24 May 2012. Playing such a noble character deserved a fine dress. so the Red Velvet came out to play. But what do you know? Dorothy has not been eating lettuce! It doesn't fit. Not even a little bit! Perhaps a deep forest green with golden underskirt? And fine black french hood to boot? It's been a long time since I felt so inspired to sew. Laugharne this ...

The Barefoot Gardener

Musings, impressions, poetry, pictures and everything else about my experiences in gardening, especially as I learn about taking it to a new level. Tuesday, March 6, 2018. One week ago I discovered the first cluster of yellow crocus blooms. They grow in a narrow strip of dirt between the house and sidewalk. This spot is much warmer than other areas as the metal wall of the house and concrete of the sidewalk absorb the intense morning sunlight, radiating the heat later. Rock iris in the arms of thyme.
