Visceral Connection | the barefooting troubadour
https://barefootingtroubadour.wordpress.com/2012/07/02/visceral-connection
Stories from the road. This weekend I mainly worked on a monologue for class, where I will be playing a woman. The monologue is from Edgar Lee Masters’. I’ll be playing the part of Amanda Barker. Like the others in the anthology, she is speaking from “the hill” — the cemetery where the residents of Spoon River are buried. And in speaking from the afterlife, there is a sense of perspective, but one where emotions still linger. Troubadour, barefooter, practicing minimalist, lover of adventures.

Stories from the road. 8220;You’re all set to graduate,” the advisor told me. So apparently I’ve met all of the academic requirements for an MA in Educational Theatre, excepting finishing my practicum paper. But “all set”? I don’t know. The phrase falls oddly on my ears. How can I be “set” when so much of the work I do is based upon practice, and experience — experience I’m just starting to get? But I do need to take a deep breath. But I can only hope and pray that my new degree allows me to travel that ...
the final push | the barefooting troubadour
https://barefootingtroubadour.wordpress.com/2012/07/18/the-final-push
Stories from the road. Hullo again, friends and travelers,. Apologies for a few days of hearing nothing from me. I’m a week or less away from finishing grad school, so I’ve been swamped. In whatever free time I have had, I’ve been exploring book recommendations from professors, and trying to make heads or tails of my transition out of the university system for a while. So I’ve given myself a challenge: to be the kind of teacher I wish I had more often. Page, once I’ve finished them. Laquo; Previous post.

Chess in Union Square | the barefooting troubadour
https://barefootingtroubadour.wordpress.com/2012/07/08/chess-in-union-square
Stories from the road. Chess in Union Square. When on the road, you meet people whose stories ought to be told. So, as promised, Sergio, here is your story. He sat beneath the shade of a tree in the park, in front of a chess board. His eyes told me that he had hope, and that included hope that someone would sit and play a game. This moment was why I was compelled to meet him. Yes, it is. He clearly enjoyed the wonderful diversity of New York, and the many opportunities the city offered. But the city ...

Deepening roots, finding rhythm, living with reverence, dwelling in relationship. Birthdays, holidays and a wedding …. August 22, 2016. Birthdays, holidays and a wedding …. June 27, 2016. June 22, 2016. Perhaps for one of the first times in my life I feel like I properly marked the solstice. A truly nouris...March 23, 2016.
