Debbie was born July 20, 1970. She came into this world being very verbal and was a very active, inquisitive child. When she was 6 months old, she climbed out of her crib (with her blanket) and onto the chest of drawers that was near her bed. When I walked into the room I was in for a surprise! Bennie was an inquisitive child (and still is). I think one of the first words he learned to say was why which he used quite frequently. Sometimes he used the word why so many times I had to finally say, Because I said so. He knew when I said those words it was time to change the subject. Bennie always strived to do his best, no matter what he was doing. When he got out of high school he joined the army, and was able to pay for his college education. He also loved to sing. By August, this arrangement was almost unbearable so we finally rented an apartment with, yes, air conditioning, a Laundromat, and even a pool. Peggy learned to walk while we were in Arizona. She took her first steps by herself when she was 7 months old. Some people didn’t believe she was walking at such a young age until they actually saw her. She walked before she crawled. She was so tanned from the Arizona sun and with her black hair everyone thought she was Mexican.

When David was in kindergarten, I went back to school to get my RN license. I started part time so I wouldn’t be away from my family so much. In the evenings he wanted all my attention. He would come to me and say, Hold me, Mommy . Therefore, I needed to wait until we went to bed to study. We realized David had an artistic ability when he would come home from school with pictures he had drawn. They truly amazed me. They appeared to be professionally done.
