Highs and Lows of Birding: November 2011

http://barry-wright.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html

Highs and Lows of Birding. An account of birds seen in North Kent and 'further' afield. Tuesday, 29 November 2011. Blackpoll Warbler in Kent. Well that's thown you hasn't it, you were expecting crippling shots of the Blackpoll Warbler. With all this modern day technology I could play around with the EXIF files but sadly I never got ant piccies of the bird, but a collection of Kent and nearly Kent birders. Geoff 'the keeper of the lists' hard at work! Tuesday, November 29, 2011. Monday, 28 November 2011.

Highs and Lows of Birding: October 2011

http://barry-wright.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html

Highs and Lows of Birding. An account of birds seen in North Kent and 'further' afield. Friday, 7 October 2011. Autumn now in full swing, Lou, Forrest and myself head off to the South West for our annual West country visit. Last September proved to be a memorable week with good weather, lovely walks, lots of fun for the dog, good showings of pasty and of course some birds. As has become almost a tradition now we stopped off at Davidstow. And Forrest had his sheep fix! Next stop was Stithians. Was seen di...

Highs and Lows of Birding. An account of birds seen in North Kent and 'further' afield. Sunday, 12 June 2011. Work on Monday as usual! Cheque books back in pockets, the Brown Booby is a Gannet. Sunday, June 12, 2011. First birders arrive on St Mary's for the Booby. No ladder required. Good luck lads remember your sleeping bags (great Blue Heron could strike again). Sunday, June 12, 2011. Saturday, 11 June 2011. It's not my real ladder? It's my step Ladder! Going by the photos and video. In 1985 which was ...

Highs and Lows of Birding: September 2011

http://barry-wright.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html

Highs and Lows of Birding. An account of birds seen in North Kent and 'further' afield. Sunday, 11 September 2011. Looking through my photos on the PC, about 80000 digital images now I decided I needed a few good Greenshank shots and looking at other blogs eg Steve Ashton I also wanted a piece of the action knowing the Bittern land and the viewing hide would be open season on a Saturday at Grove. I was not disapointed and there were ctaully birds present. Greenshank at Backsand, crackers. It's a Hobby, b...

Highs and Lows of Birding: May 2011

http://barry-wright.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html

Highs and Lows of Birding. An account of birds seen in North Kent and 'further' afield. Saturday, 28 May 2011. Up to date : Wedding, Moths, birds and Dragons! Then it's nearing the middle of the year, it's a Bank Holiday it's dull outside, Louise is up North having seen Take That in Sunderland. I've got a bit of spare time and in order to prevent Mr Faulkner abandoning me forever I've decided to post. When I first started. Based ones, Sheppey. And my second favourite county in Britain, those from Devon.

Go Wild In Kent: Darland Banks

http://gowildinkent.blogspot.com/2014/05/darland-banks.html

Friday, 23 May 2014. A very enjoyable day at Darland banks yesterday. The man orchids are out in 1,000's and plenty of variety to see amongst them. Adonis, common and small blue on the wing with some very close encounters with small blues as they seemed to like resting on my rucksack, which itself was blue! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Go Wild In Kent: Longfield Chalk Bank

http://gowildinkent.blogspot.com/2014/06/longfield-chalk-bank.html

Saturday, 28 June 2014. This small Kent Wildlife Trust reserve close to my front door held a surprise this afternoon in the first marbled white butterflies that I have seen there. In all at least 4 were flying around in the pre thunderstorm gloom along with about 30 ringlets, 6 meadow browns, 4 large skippers and a couple of small skippers. Quite a few 6-spot burnets were also on the wing. Large skipper feeding on thistle. Male small skipper on scabious. Litter and broken tree branches :-(. Another LNR w...

Go Wild In Kent: January 2015

http://gowildinkent.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html

Sunday, 25 January 2015. Kent Harvest Mouse Survey. Yesterday I went on a harvest mouse survey course at Wildwood. The survey is an ambitious one trying to cover all 1,100 land based tetrads in Kent to survey for harvest mouse. A day spent with Steve Kirk and several other folks all learning from Steve and intent on understanding about harvest mouse ecology and then getting some experience looking for their nests in the outdoors near Wildwood. The group gather as the first nest is found.

Go Wild In Kent: May 2014

http://gowildinkent.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html

Friday, 23 May 2014. A quick look at the local Kent Wildlife Trust roadside nature reserve, the grass verge opposite and the Rectory Meadow nature reserve for emerging or emerged orchids resulted in not seeing that many. In fact I only found three man orchids on a site where in the recent past I have found up to 70. Still after a bit of searching I did find what I think are some emerging man orchids so maybe the majority are yet to appear, fingers crossed. Green hairstreaks were also on the wing. The Nor...

Go Wild In Kent: March 2012

http://gowildinkent.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 20 March 2012. Adding Up and Keeping Count! So far I have made 3 trips to the adder site and I think I’ve seen 7 different male adders, which if true is the most I’ve ever seen in one area and quite exciting and the females aren’t even out yet! What do you think, there are certainly 4 different males below but do you reckon there are 7 different males here? Answers on a postcard. This one will be easy to identify as long as the spring flower bee stays put! Sunday, 11 March 2012. There are 11 in ...

Go Wild In Kent: Norfolk

http://gowildinkent.blogspot.com/2014/05/norfolk.html

Friday, 23 May 2014. Had a great week in Norfolk recently, focusing on the Norfolk Wildlife Trust reserves of Holme Dunes and Cley. In all the time i've been birding i've never visited Holme Dunes but what a gem of a reserve. I've never seen so may wall butterflies in one place. Green hairstreaks were also on the wing. A light swallow movement of birds heading west in small groups occured over 4 days with the daily counts in excess of 400. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Where i've Gone Wild! Review ...

Highs and Lows of Birding. An account of birds seen in North Kent and 'further' afield. Saturday, 31 December 2011. Review of the Year.the final chapter. Welcome to Barry-Young.Com

Welcome to Barry-Young.Com. Thursday, 2 August 2007. Does Ambient Grains 3 Deliver? I have been using a little known piece of music software called Ambient Grains for the best part of a year now so thought that I should share the secret with the rest of the web. With the release of Ambient Grains version 3, Avi (the creator of the software), asked me for some feedback so I have penned a quick review. So far so good but the major drawback (for musicians) still remained in that there was little control ove...
