Bates and Lambourne Ltd. Generally, for cabinet work, one maker will produce a piece from the sawn board right through to being ready for polishing. Chair work is somewhat different due to the complicated nature of many components, and the larger numbers involved. It is built from English ash, can be polished in any of our range of finishes, and is available either in the simple stickback style, or as a wheelback. A popular option, shown in the accompanying photographs is the ‘blind’ wheelback, onto which for a small additional charge, an inscription can be carved, for example name or initials and date or year of birth.
