Beaver Scouts are young people usually aged between six and eight years old. They belong to the first and youngest Section in the Scouting family. Young people can join Beaver Scouts in the three months leading up to their sixth birthday. They can move to the next Section, Cub Scouts, between eight and eight years six months. The Beaver motto is Fun and Friendship and their programme reflects this. The Beaver colony at Combe Down meets every Wednesday for more details please fill out the contact form.

Cub Scouts are young people usually aged between eight years and ten and a half years old. They belong to the second Section in the Scouting family. Young people can join Cub Scouts in the three months leading up to their eighth birthday. They can then move to the next Section – Scouts between ten and ten and a half years old. Combe Down Cubs enjoy District events and these in the past have included chess competitions, cooking competitions and activity days. Think you know scouting?

Cubs start 100 Years Celebration with cake! It’s not a proper birthday without a cake, and Cubs from across Bath have been busy decorating birthday cakes to celebrate 100 years of Cub Scouts in 2016! In the city-wide competition, the Cubs created their own designs with icing, jelly beans, chocolate and fruit. With the Christmas Holidays coming to an end, many young people could be forgiven for feeling a bit down about returning to School. But for over 175 Beavers and Leaders from across Bath including those from Combe Down, the school holidays ended on a high with a trip to see Cinderella at the Theatre Royal, Bath. Alex, a Beaver from Bath, said It was really funny. The best bit was Buttons throwing sweets at us!

Group Roles – Volunteers wanted! Scouts learn to be Prepared for Emergencies. Written by : Ethan - Assistant Scout Leader and Webmaster. Would you or your Scouts know what to do if your world was suddenly torn apart by a major emergency? Over 100 Scouts, including a group from Bathampton, spent a day at Cleeve Hill Campsite learning how to survive the aftermath of a major incident. During the day Scouts also had to try to track down missing friends or family members, just as they would in a real emergency.
