Wednesday, April 6, 2011. Camino, Camino, Camino! Like daugher Sophie said when I retired and decided to travel around the world.Well, at least you will have new stories. I have walked the 800 kms Camino from St. Jean Pied de Port to Santiago, no breaks, no stops, on foot. It is a nice feeling of accomplishment. As always, I am fully aware of just how lucky I am. Sunday, December 19, 2010. Decision to hike the Camino. I've just returned from a 6 week trip to NYC, Washington and Ecuador and face a minor dilemma: How much is too much? I have been backpacking more than a year of the year and a half since I retired from Dalhousie. The money that falls out from such a process is gone as are all my savings of any sort. Monday, April 4, 2011. Everyday, the crowd walking grows. Entire alburgues fill up after supper as groups descend on the Camino´s last 100 kms to get their Compostela. Other night I went to sleep with 9 other Pilgrims and woke up with 65! In the dorm. Yikes. My sleepwear is my silk jammies from MEC. Monday, November 22, 2010. Canoa, transportation, Quilitoa and Quechuas. I arrived at in a hailstorm. Lodging was a local Quechua family hostal, meals in the big family room, with actual heat (small wood stove). No hot anything else for me for 3 days.
