Donkey Kong!!!: May 2009
http://donkeykongrestore.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html
Friday, May 29, 2009. Recreating The Control Panel: Part 4. Almost there. the next thing I did was line up the joystick in the hole I had cut out. I just eyeballed it but I have a good eye and it looks like I got it dead-center. To help out with the process I installed the control panel overlay and sandwiched the joystick dustwasher in between the MDF/ABS panel and the overlay. All I had to do was center the dustwasher hole in the overlay. Not bad, eh? Posted by Some guy on the Internet. And laminate it ...

http://donkeykongrestore.blogspot.com/2009/09/its-alive.html
Tuesday, September 15, 2009. Now the moment I've been waiting for - powering it on for the first time (and praying everything works! Here are some shots with the lights off - it is impossible to get a good picture but you get the idea. The marquee really pops and everything looks better than I imagined it. I'll post a video of it working when I get a chance and other miscellaneous stuff when it pops into my head. Posted by Some guy on the Internet. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Donkey Kong!!!: March 2009
http://donkeykongrestore.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
Monday, March 30, 2009. Time for the camera dump! Here are a few interior shots for those who are interested. It was pretty dirty inside and there were leaves, nails and staples all over the place. I cleaned it out pretty good but this is what it used to look like:. The last shot above shows where the original Donkey Kong board sat inside the cabinet. It was mounted vertically on the shelf. Posted by Some guy on the Internet. Wednesday, March 25, 2009. Some Parts Are Here! Nothing like fresh metal, eh?

Donkey Kong!!!: July 2009
http://donkeykongrestore.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html
Friday, July 31, 2009. Now this was fun. After I got the bottom marquee retainer and coin door back painted I was able to install the marquee and marquee light. It looks great! It was fairly easy - first, I secured the 18" light I bought from Home Depot ($10) in place. I need to find some less obvious screws for the top marquee retainer. The ones I used are silver and quite noticeable. I'd like to replace them with some round head ones spraypainted black. I'll get to that eventually. Monday, July 27, 2009.

Donkey Kong!!!: The Brains: Part 2
http://donkeykongrestore.blogspot.com/2009/09/brains-part-2.html
Tuesday, September 8, 2009. The Brains: Part 2. Next up was installing the computer - pretty easy stuff. I just placed it on a shelf that spans the two plywood supports as shown below. Next, I screwed the motherboard to the shelf and then plugged everything in (hard drive, monitor, USB connections for the iPac, etc.). I don't have any pictures of this but it is pretty self-explanatory if you've made it this far. Posted by Some guy on the Internet. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). HIGH SCORE: 246,100!

Tuesday, November 25, 2008. The only reason I am considering red is purely for aesthetics - I just like the way it looks. I am really undecided at this point although I'm leaning towards blue because that is how I remember it. Posted by Some guy on the Internet. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). HIGH SCORE: 246,100! Donkey Kong!!!: June 2009
http://donkeykongrestore.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
Thursday, June 18, 2009. Control Panel - Finished! Well, here it is:. I know I said I probably wasn't going to finish this for a while but I couldn't resist. I applied the instruction card to the back of the plastic control panel overlay with some scotch tape. It was way easier than I thought because I was under the impression that the instruction card. Was actually a sticker. Oops. Posted by Some guy on the Internet. Thursday, June 11, 2009. Recreating The Control Panel: Part 8. The instruction care obv...

Donkey Kong!!!: Some More Side Art Pics
http://donkeykongrestore.blogspot.com/2009/09/some-more-side-art-pics.html
Friday, September 4, 2009. Some More Side Art Pics. OK, time for some good pics! Here are some shots of the cab with the side art and bezel installed. I also put the computer inside and wired everything up (which I will detail in future posts). It's about 95% finished. The only thing left cosmetically is the decal above the CP on the black bar otherwise what you see is what you get. Here's the punch list:. Laminate front bar above CP. Apply decal on front bar above CP. Posted by Some guy on the Internet.

Donkey Kong!!!: The Brains
http://donkeykongrestore.blogspot.com/2009/09/brains.html
Monday, September 7, 2009. Next up was getting all of the electrical components positioned and hooked up inside of this thing. First up was the SmartStrip. I decided to mount the SmartStrip on the side of the cabinet like this:. I had to raise it a little so the plug from the marquee light would reach an outlet on the SmartStrip. The plug of the SmartStrip will go out the back of the cabinet and into the wall just like in an original Donkey Kong machine. Posted by Some guy on the Internet.
