My grandmothers used to make this, I had no idea it had been banned. 4 Cups Water,. 5 To 6 Sassafras Roots. Find In The Spring Or The Fall). Bring to boil 4 cups of water, and then add roots. Continue to boil the roots until water becomes red and the smell becomes very strong. Note: wash the roots very well and be sure to gather in the spring or fall when the sap is still strong. This recipe came from a friend. i have to share it cuz it's so good and very simple to make! 1 packet mild taco seasoning. 1 packet Ranch dressing mix. 1 lb ground beef. 2 cans red kidney beans. 2 cans golden corn. 1 28 oz can chopped tomatoes. Mix thoroughly. Bring to a boil for a bit. Serve with sour cream and cheese.also good with cornbread or a cheese bread. I'll post more recipes later! April 22, 2009 at 7:32 AM.

These are so very good.and if you make this whole recipe, you'll have about 100 cookies (if you use a 3-4 inch cookie cutter).so some of you might want to half this recipe. :). In a big big big bowl, mix all these ingredients together. 1 pint* of sugar. 1 pint of shortning. 1 pint of molasses*. 1 pint hot water. 2 teaspoons baking soda (mix in with hot water). 1 pint = 2 cups.
