Beerly Coherent: Four new Belgian blondes
http://www.beerlycoherent.com/2013/05/four-new-belgian-blondes.html
Formerly "40 Beers at 40". Sunday, 19 May 2013. Four new Belgian blondes. Let’s start with a few blonde Belgian ales. I’ve run into a few new ones in recent months, all worth mentioning. Well, actually, they’re more worth drinking than mentioning, but you know what I mean. The first is an experimental beer from Brasserie de la Senne here in Brussels: Wadesda #3. Though Wadesda #3 is more foamy and less spicy. I think it’s only had a limited production run, but grab a bottle if you can. Which really is a ...
Beerly Coherent: Two historic brews
http://www.beerlycoherent.com/2011/08/two-historic-brews.html
Formerly "40 Beers at 40". Sunday, 14 August 2011. I like to try “historic beers” when I can - that is, beers made to very old recipes that attempt to recreate the flavours of bygone days. They’re always very weird, and none of them are ever going to become regular tipples for me. But still, they are fascinating. Those I’ve had before, including Gageleer. The following two beers, however, trace their roots back much further: with recipes originating in BCE times. Dogfish Head Midas Touch. Was the second ...
Beerly Coherent: Belgian Beer Weekend 2010
http://www.beerlycoherent.com/2010/09/belgian-beer-weekend-2010.html
Formerly "40 Beers at 40". Sunday, 5 September 2010. Belgian Beer Weekend 2010. Somehow, I managed to survive the Belgian Beer Weekend. In Brussels and even enjoy it. That's a lot more difficult than it might sound. It's not the drinking of the beer that's so traumatic, but getting to that point in the first place. One type of token is just bottle caps. OK, they're not just bottle caps, because ordinary bottle caps don't cost one euro each, but still, that's what they are. These are what you use ...Anywa...
Beerly Coherent: First trans-Atlantic beer podcast
http://www.beerlycoherent.com/2011/06/first-trans-atlantic-beer-podcast.html
Formerly "40 Beers at 40". Sunday, 26 June 2011. First trans-Atlantic beer podcast. Well, Bob and I finally managed the technology, and we at long last synchronised our beer purchases, so that this evening we sat down and made our first trans-Atlantic beer tasting podcast. We tried Hof ten Dormaal Donker, an excellent farmhouse dark ale. Opening the bottles proved a bit messy, but the experience was well worth it, with rewardingly complex layers of flavours, including chocolate and brandy. 8221; Fiona ans.
Beerly Coherent: Schieven IPA
http://www.beerlycoherent.com/2012/09/schieven-ipa.html
Formerly "40 Beers at 40". Sunday, 30 September 2012. But when I saw Schieven IPA at my local provider’s, I bought a whole case without giving it a second thought. Though a decision made in haste and relative ignorance, it was nevertheless logical. From the label I saw it was an IPA produced by the fantastic Brasserie de la Senne in Brussels in collaboration with Americans Jeff Bagby, of Bagby Beer. Of Lost Abbey. I just knew it was going to be great. And, hey, no surprise: it is. Please, say it ain't so.

Suburban Suds and Beertography: Cheers to a Rockstar
https://suburbansudsbeertography.blogspot.com/2012/09/cheers-to-rockstar.html
Suburban Suds and Beertography. Life based on beer. Suggestions welcome. Suburban Suds and Beertography. Tuesday, September 11, 2012. Cheers to a Rockstar. I have to admit, I had never heard of Rockstar Ronan until the Taylor Swift thing. So, like 2.5 million other people apparently did, I googled it and found the Rockstar Ronan. Newcastle Brown Ale (4.7% ABV). Where Maya describes Ronan's last day battling cancer. I was not just crying while I read this . I was sobbing uncontrollably. My heart breaks fo...

http://whatsthepint.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Thursday, 28 July 2011. To Homebrew or not to Homebrew? But there is a drawback. If I am going to be drinking the homebrew on a regular basis it needs to be good. I need to want to drink it, henceforth my new challenge. Through trial and error, advise from others and possibly good luck, I am going to try and make a quality homebrew. If anyone has any helpful advise I would much apreciate it! Updates will be posted! Andrew Lynes - Whats the Pint? Andrew Lynes - Whats the Pint? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Strong beer, strong legs. Profound words from a brilliant yet troubled mind. Saturday, September 1, 2012. Then , earlier this evening an idea hit me like a dance club sucker punch. My son had been awake all day, so with this instinct I have recently developed I was able to surmise that he will be tired and go to bed early. So , why don't I put the last nail in the coffin and make him walk up to the Liquor store with me? At 7% I would guess those monks consider this a possible trippel. I think. I ...I bor...

Brewing the perfect beer....: December 2009
http://perfectbeer.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
Brewing the perfect beer. You mean I can do this for a living? Wednesday, December 30, 2009. A watched pot never boils. But if you turn your back it will always boil over! I brewed my American IPA yesterday out in the fridgid cold, and stepped inside to warm up a bit and had a boil over. It was so cold that the bolied over wort froze as soon as it hit the ground. Other than that, it was a succesful day. Other than that, my wife and I are getting ready to welcome our first child in March. I'm trying t...

Suburban Suds and Beertography. Life based on beer. Suggestions welcome. Suburban Suds and Beertography. Friday, August 16, 2013. Day 12: Fire roasted brats. August 16: Bratwurst Festival Day. No one will dispute that the first family camping trip with a toddler and dog requires beer. But with 2 kids and a dog, we were running a little low on space. So I packed the heavy hitters. Beerly Belgium
Beer reviews and pithy thoughts on life in Belgium. Wednesday, December 8, 2010. Hello my one or two readers. Sorry that I have not written for a long time. I will give the cliched excuse that I have been busy. The time just flies and every time I think about writing an entry into the blog, my kid either distracts me with her impish smile or I need to change a nappy. But I am still around quietly observing Brussels in its glory. Friday, August 13, 2010. Give a hoot don't pollute! A small disclaimer: I do...

Beerly Coherent
Formerly "40 Beers at 40". Sunday, 26 May 2013. Natural light and darkness. We’ve spent a good deal of time this weekend trying to keep a nest of baby black birds safe from marauding magpies. The parents are doing the best they can, and we come out to help when we hear their alarm call. Still, it’s been pretty brutal: two chicks gone already, one cowering in the honeysuckle. Nature can be pretty ugly. Labels: dark beers and dubbels. Strong blonde ales and tripels. Wednesday, 22 May 2013. Which rely on bo...
