Threats in Chess - Chess for Beginners

Anatomy of a Chess Player. November 22, 2010. January 29, 2016. This does not mean that you need to spend your entire game reacting to your opponent’s threats, this will only cause you to play a dull defensive game dictated by your opponent’s moves. What this means is that on every move you need to ask yourself, “What is my opponent threatening? 8221; and “What is the consequence of my opponent’s last move? According to Dan Heisman, there are three things one can do against a threat:. Recommended Chess B...

Tony's chess blog: Next Stop - Orlando, FL for the US Open

http://tonyschessblog.blogspot.com/2014/07/next-stop-orlando-fl-for-us-open.html

This is a chess blog to document my quest to reach the Expert level rating. Saturday, July 26, 2014. Next Stop - Orlando, FL for the US Open. The month long tournament that I directed and played in went pretty horribly as a player. I scored only 1 out of 3 (0-1-2), despite the fact that I had winning positions in ALL 3 GAMES. It's going to be a very busy week, so dont expect to see any updates until I get back. Wish me luck! July 26, 2014 at 9:09 PM. Was the tournament just for fun, or uscf rated?

Tony's chess blog: September 2014

http://tonyschessblog.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html

This is a chess blog to document my quest to reach the Expert level rating. Sunday, September 14, 2014. Here are some of my US Open games from Florida. I missed rounds 1 and 2 as I couldn't afford to play in the 9 day schedule. I asked for a 0 point bye in round 1 and a half point bye in round 2. I showed up to round 3 to see I was paired with as 1/2. By round 6 they had fixed it. I guess in the end it didn't matter. Round 8 was my fastest game. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Tony's chess blog: Chess Future

http://tonyschessblog.blogspot.com/2014/12/chess-future.html

This is a chess blog to document my quest to reach the Expert level rating. Friday, December 19, 2014. Well, another year comes and goes and still I haven't improved enough to get to 2000. In November I decided to take a different approach to improving. During my last tournament at the Port Huron Chess Club, we played a G/90 quad in which I out rated all of my opponents my many hundreds of points. I played very well against my first two opponents, but during the last round I ran into a problem. You still...

Chess Training for Grumpy Geezers. Friday, January 13, 2012. IM David Pruess had some really interesting things to say in the www.chess.com forum. Posted by Patrik Öhagen. Wednesday, January 11, 2012. Some time ago Dan Heisman tweeted: "If I gave a pill to a 1400 player so that he/she memorizes MCO-15, what would their new playing strength be? Most properly guess 1400-1450". Some member on www.chess.com is doing a simulation in a Magic Pill-esque setting and here is what (s)he reports:. Another interesti...

Chess Training for Grumpy Geezers. Monday, April 23, 2012. Amici sumus" is the motto of the International Correspondence Chess Federation. Which will host my debute playing for Sweden. I am very excited by this event even though it has to be said that the Team game is open for all members of the Swedish federation for correspondece chess (SSKK). I do like the rythm of "corr chess" but at the same time the influence of Mr Fritz is a cooler. Score a "non-egg" in the SSKK team games. Here is the fine print:.

Chess Training for Grumpy Geezers. Monday, June 11, 2012. Tools at The Looner's Chess Club. We at The Looner's Chess Club are getting more and more inte low tech email chess and less into turn-based chess at fancy sites. However, one iPhone app has caught our interest: Social Chess. Everything is very neat and well designed. The only minor thing to complain about would be the somewhat smallish player pool. It can take a little time to get a game started but once it is up and running all is fine. Tools at...

Project was a success and I have been thinking about starting some new project and here it is: The Study Buddy Project. I would very much like to play a few slow games myself. My OTB rating is undefined but I tend to plateau at around 1500 playing turn basen games. At the moment I have accounts at FICS and chess.com. Posted by Patrik Öhagen. Labels: Study Buddy Project.
