When my plane landed in Detroit for my connection to Cincinnati, it took a minute for me to realize that I wasn’t in Europe anymore. It wasn’t the disappearance of the British accent (nevermind the even more charming Scottish accent) that made me realize, nor the fact that I paid for food with dollars instead of pounds, Euros or koruna.
