The Misadventures: October 2012

Thursday, October 25, 2012. Nothing screams commitment like sawing your counter in two. Fast forward to current day. Only seven gallons in town? A store in Burlington had plenty of epoxy and my friend Jason was nice enough to pick it up for me. The counters were completed one month after I started sawing them apart. Tips for epoxying anything:. 1 Plan to use more epoxy than you imagined. I ended up using double the amount. FYI- there is a math equation for this. 5 Ventilation is key. I seriously consider...

The Misadventures: July 2013
http://themisadventuresofkf.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Monday, July 8, 2013. Black Peak. NE Ridge. July 2, 2013. Today was a pretty awesome day. First peak summit of the summer. I woke up at 4:15 am. Allie and I planned on leaving Bellingham at 530, and this would give me enough time to make a proper breakfast and get to her house. Being that I didn't get to bed until 11:30, I was surprisingly alert for the predawn awakening. What is it," Allie asked? I pointed towards the south. She gazed at Black Peak, "I know, it'll be so fun! Not the peak, the goat!

The Misadventures: May 2014

Tuesday, May 13, 2014. Gravity Hurts aka Time-Out. No, I'm just happy. They're happy tears.". My tears quickly subsided when the apple juice and crackers appeared. Being that I'm writing this, you probably guessed that 1. There were no rocks and 2. I survived. This trend continued with everything from swimming to downhill biking, and with each sport gone came a bit more depression. You know you've done a doozie of a job when your surgeon asks you sympathetically, "What have you done to yourself? Sitting ...

The Misadventures: August 2012
http://themisadventuresofkf.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
Tuesday, August 21, 2012. The course was longer this year due to an attempt at making the Forest Service happier than it was after last year. Now, instead of 7 miles of uphill single track right off the start, we had just over 10 miles of first road, then trail. It literally went up and up and up a road, then a trail in the woods, then a huge alpine meadow, then Sawtooth Ridge. Friday, August 3, 2012. 8220;Leaving at 4:30.” I thought the time would deter any possible tag alongs. I had to think about this...

The Misadventures: The Bavarian Alps. Part 2 - Sept 2014
http://themisadventuresofkf.blogspot.com/2014/10/the-bavarian-alps-part-2-sept-2014.html
Wednesday, October 29, 2014. The Bavarian Alps. Part 2 - Sept 2014. We woke up to Cümmel asking us if we wanted to climb a mountain. He said it would be very fun, mellow, safe. We agreed. We arrived at the base of Tegelberg, and instantly stopped by the playground. I don't understand why US playgrounds are so PG rated. The ones in Europe are fun for adults. Seriously. As it goes, the climbing wasn't bad at all. If you imagine exposed 4th class with super polished rock, but add in a fixed cable, then ...

The Misadventures: August 2013
http://themisadventuresofkf.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
Monday, August 12, 2013. The sky above our camp was speckled with stars when I slid into my sleeping bag at 1:30 AM. When I awoke at 2:30, however, the sky was dark and no stars remained. Lightening was now striking closer from both aspects. Disconcerting, yes, but nothing to freak out about. Sometimes you just to listen to Mother Nature. After a long day of sleep I started to wonder about this occurrence, so I did a little research to see if we did the right thing. Here is what I've found:. Contrary to ...
