Noise? | Appel's Blog
https://amappel.wordpress.com/2010/01/30/noise
What I have learned about photography. Photography Destinations (a work in progress). When I first started visiting different photo websites, I often heard people talking about noise in their photos. I wondered, what in the world are they talking about? I knew from the context that noise was not a good thing but really didn’t know what it was. So, assuming there are people out there who don’t know what I’m talking about when I discuss noise in a photo here is an example. Date : January 30, 2010. Fill in ...

Tripods? Are they worth it? | Appel's Blog
https://amappel.wordpress.com/2010/05/04/tripods-are-they-worth-it
What I have learned about photography. Photography Destinations (a work in progress). Are they worth it? I know, I know, tripods are a hassle! They’re a pain to carry around, especially the bigger therefore, heavier ones! You don’t have near the freedom to move around to get that perfect angle but in some situations a tripod is a must! I’m finding out landscapes often need a tripod. This is only if you want to go that extra mile to get that great image! All in all, time and patience is key! Fill in your ...

What I have learned about photography. Photography Destinations (a work in progress). The Value of a Photograph. Guest blog by Jared M. Burns. A Photograph is the only…. Way we can stop time. Opportunity to truly see the world through another person’s eyes. Thing that is still unique in this world. Way of going back in time and reliving a special moment. Thing that lasts after the wedding us over. Evidence those special memories have taken place. A Photograph will…. Change our world view. It’s your...

My Reminder | Appel's Blog
https://amappel.wordpress.com/my-reminder
What I have learned about photography. Photography Destinations (a work in progress). This page is a reminder to myself. Who is #1 in my life? Who created all of creation that I love to photograph? Who gave me the ability to take these photographs? Who gave me the ability to see His creation? Recently, I attended a retreat for our church. I was given new reminders about how to view things. I was reminded that all that God has done, all that God is, all that He has given me, is for His glory! Praise Jehov...

Portraits | Appel's Blog

What I have learned about photography. Photography Destinations (a work in progress). As a result of friends’ requests, I’ve gradually been doing more portrait work. I enjoy it but it sure is a lot different than photographing scenic shots – mountains don’t care how they look! Portraits, as with any other photography work, is an ongoing learning process. Thankfully, I’ve had very patient and fun people to work with! We took all these shots in Berthusen Park of Lynden, WA. Here are a few of my favorites!

Simple Mistake, Easy to Correct! | Appel's Blog
https://amappel.wordpress.com/2010/01/29/hello-world
What I have learned about photography. Photography Destinations (a work in progress). Simple Mistake, Easy to Correct! One common mistake, especially when in a hurry, is having a crooked picture. I found myself doing this frequently! Nothing more frustrating than going thru a whole stack of photos and finding that you have to straighten each and every one because that horizon is crooked! Here is a before and after example:. Now, I know that some pics are intentionally placed on an angle to create a speci...

Just for Fun | Appel's Blog
https://amappel.wordpress.com/98
What I have learned about photography. Photography Destinations (a work in progress). One thing I always have trouble with is thinking of creative names to title my images. Just imagine it, a wonderful pic, such as this one, nicely matted with the caption “Tractor in Tulip Field” under it! It just doesn’t work! So, in this spot I will occasionally place different pics with the hopes that someone out there can come up with a creative title for me! Can you guess what this is? Leave a Reply Cancel reply.
